Well, in my opinion Dwyane Wade is a better overall player, or at least he does more different things. One of the things Wade does that Kobe doesn't do is blocking shots and Wade also gets more steals, assists and points per game. He's also more important to his team than Kobe is in my opinion and he's very consistent.
Of course the Lakers have a much better record than the Heat, but you can expect that, looking at the lineups.
Wade hasn't proven he's better than Kobe yet in his career. Kobe has 10+ years of NBA service, the majority of that as the best player in the league. He's the best offensive player in the game today, and maybe the second best of all time. There's nothing Kobe can't do on offense, that any other player in the league can do. He can dominate off the dribble, from behind the arc, in the post. He's perhaps the best finisher in the game today and he's one of the most clutch. When Kobe is on the floor, the Lakers always have a chance to win no matter what the score is.
On defense, Kobe is a lock down defender. He's made countless all-defensive teams since being in the NBA. I've seen Kobe shut down many star players. The difference with Kobe and Wade is that Wade gets the glory points on defense that Kobe doesn't really get. To me, it's the same thing as when people call Josh Smith a better defender than guys like Tayshaun Prince and Shane Battier. Smith isn't a better defender, he just gets the highlight plays on defense. Josh Smith isn't a guy you send out to shut down the other team's best player, guys like Battier and Prince are. That's how I see Wade. While he is capable of shutting down players, he's more of a highlight reel defensive player. Kobe is more like the shutdown defensive kind of player.
I'll give Wade his props because he's raised his game to new heights and is once again a top 3 player in the league, but to me, he isn't on Kobe's level just yet and it's an insult to call him the best player in the game when Kobe is still playing.
Just so you know, I hate the Lackers and I hate Kobe. But I'm just telling it as I see it.
