Man thanks to Maynard I went ahead and got this for the PS3. The controls take some getting used to but it seems solid so far.

My suggestion to anyone who picks this up is not not stray too far before leveling up. I just got raped by a rhino, 2 warthogs, and an ostrich.

i suggest killing and saving any ostrich feathers u can find. they have a good value for such an easy kill

have u tried the MP mode yet? the player creater is alot better imo. They have more than just a human choice like the SP has. Elfs, orc, dwarf and humans...plus some variation of some races.

Plus you can decide what kind of mage you want to be....u got like 5 choices there and get starter spells based on that choice

You can tell this was a straight port. The framerate would be an issue for me if I wasn't aware of it going in. I'll probably find more issues the more I play but so far I haven't run into anything that keeps me from having fun.

I had to stop last night or Id still be up playing. I was getting my ass kicked by Groms until I went into Sniper mode, crawled up on the rocks and started to pick them off.

Maynard - im guessing that was your FR I accepted last night, so I went and created a Ranger to Multiplay. I will definately try the mulitplay this weekend. Im just so tied up in this game.

Found the floating Osculus last night is that fucking great.
I also did the breakdown of the weapons and also upgraded on some of the things. Im terrible with magic, I tried to do that circle of fire thing to knock the Groms down but got slaughtered. I;ll have to check the website and read up on it.

One question and I cant find it in the book. When you are in the inventory screen to equip weapons, what do the icons mean on the right side. All I understand is it compares the weapon you are carrying to the weapon you may want to carry

the complaints i have seen honestly sound like bitter people bitching. There are those console commands i posted in this thread that have a effect on how the game will look and play.

FYI - here are the ones i use and i bolded the ones i highly recommend trying

 

cam.bank.move 0 - reduces camera wobble
engine.bloommultiplier 0 - turns off bloom (brightness during the day)
engine.edgeaablend 0 - forces Anti Aliasing on objects
engine.mblurscale 0 - turns off motion blur
engine.usedof 1 - remove DOF (depth of field)
graph.enablefog 0 - removes fog
graph.setfastrunspecialefx 0 0 0.0 - remove fast running motion blur

directions on how to enter the code for both 360 and ps3

 

To open console on PS3 do the following: - Im not sure if you do this while in the main menu, or while in game
Hold down L1 + R1 then while holding it down press sequentially: SELECT then DPAD LEFT then SELECT then DPAD RIGHT. An input box+on-screen keyboard should appear. After entering your desired command (each should be entered one at a time!!!) accept it with START button.

To open console on 360 do the following: MUST DO WHILE IN YOUR GAME
Hold down LB + RB, then while still holding it press and release buttons in the following order: START -> DPAD UP -> START -> DPAD DOWN.
Push X to bring up on screen keyboard. enter code, push start....then push A to accept. (each should be entered one at a time!!!)

NOTE - us can also use a keyboard if you have one

that Osculus is cool is you like a little stealth action. reminds me of that little robot thing in MGS4

for the icon thing. make sure u goto you settings in the game and change the option to "show icons as text" ....it will help. but here is a link to understand the icons

so last night i found that Air spells are really kick ass. I was able to create a spell with 4 variables that are all useful.
invisible
Reduce falling damage
Tornado
Falling Spear

falling spear is my own made up spell, the other 3 are named by the game.
basically the spell targets a bad guy and makes these massive spears fall on the guys head for 5 seconds. By the end of the spell the hit damage number was showing 3000. I was crushing scorpions with this thing

tornado is also pretty sweet. u can use a force spell to hurl objects, then use tornado to sweep up the objects so they spin around u damaging anyone who comes near you. I also made a shield that makes a fire effect around you

I picked up some cards last night also, but all im doing is throwing Ice and Fire (B and Y) I can change the things they do, Missle, etc. But I have a few cards and I think Air is one of them but I cant do anything with it. Just say hit B to return to game. I probably need to upgrade shit. But right now Im just having searching the island and killing things.

u gotta get off that little island and on to the next island. if you plan on playing as a mage then u can find the mage society to get better items to play with.

but early on the loot you have to play as a mage sucks. you need to really get more carrier cards and modifiers. also effect cards....once you can start stacking these cards u open the door to making all sorts of cool shit.

i am at the point where i need to take notes to remember all these spells

for example. falling spear is
Air effect card
enchant carrier cards
damage mod
time mod

add a protect mod and you have tornado

summon spells are real easy
effect card plus summon carrier....stacking these makes it super powerful

I created my guy last night. Now will he "level' up the more I play online or is he "as is"

I plan on playing all weekend. Im only getting about an hour a night on the game and cant get to much accomplished. Last night I did the Shipwreck and entered the Grom layer. Im into this so much Id like to sit and play for hours. Even the little things like exploring the island (im sure once im in the actually it will be even better) but Im not bored or think its slow at all. Im content with it. I found some osculus that explodes. Dont want to waste it on Groms

me and kg played MP last night. it works and plays pretty well. I think its bit too linear and they didnt leave alot of room for exploring or even looting...except for the dead guys.

its more about combat then anything else so perhaps a tank would be the better choice for playing it.

i read today that in villiage mode you can also create the best stuff and have it to use in any other MP mode.

do you just mean finish the "tutorial"
