UFC Fight Night 24 (3/26)

Sung Jung is always fun and earns a spot in the ufc record book to boot.

Only question is which sub from tonight was better. The twister or the inverted triangle.
 
American UFC refs love staring at guys hugging on the ground.
Davis and Johnson win in massively unimpressive Fitchlike fashion.
Lol x 10 at the Twister that was awesome.
 
Lil' Nog stuffing all of Davis' takedowns led to Davis getting a couple of good shots in in the 2nd.

3rd round was about the same until Davis get a few single leg grabs and put a few more shots in for a decision...

But all I heard from Rogan was, "Nogueria's got great grip strength."

Which he did nothing with.

The Hardy Rape was interesting only in a sense that "The Outlaw" went from GSP victim to Condit target to Johnson ragdoll in a matter of months.

I can't blame the guy though because Johnson's big ass was moving him around like a Lazy Susan.

Sadollah was aight and I fucking fell asleep in the Zombie/Garcia 2 fight. :obama:

Glad to see Zombie got the win in the replay though. :shifty:

Also wanted to mention, FUCK the crowd for booing just because the guys in the ring weren't killing each other with punches and kicks...

UFC hates BJJ and Wrestling unless you beat the shit out of a guy or make him tap.
 
As good as Davis is, after watching him against Nog, I dont think he's ready for Jones. Davis keeps improving his game, but then again, so does Jones. And at this point, Jones has the advantage standing and I'd say the wrestling is a wash. Another demonstration of the difference between competition wrestling and MMA wrestling. Davis is, however, as close as youre going to find for a size, range, and athletic match for Jones. I think Jones has the better GnP too...when he gets you down, he does damage

The main fights were a bore, but I'm glad that KZ finally got an official win and stopped that thief Garcia. Jung is a much better fighter when he fights with some control and doesn't fight like a tard (IE: Roop fight).

Lil' Nog is unfortunately going to be a gatekeeper at best as long as the UFC keeps feeding him wrestlers. Same with Hardy, but Hardy is fucked at becoming a relevant contender again since a huge chunk of the WW division are wrestlers. Fortunately for him, he's British so I expect him to get a rebound fight.

Davis looked very vulnerable tonight. His hands are still shit didn't really do much when he finally got Lil' Nog down, but to his credit he beat a top guy on short notice.

I heard McDonald/Figueroa was a banger and the Lentz/Lowe fight was surprisingly good with a finish. I need to find footage.
 
Maybe the girl was a big Sadollah fan while the guy was a big Johnson fan.

MMA is serious business
 
rob (or anyone else, I guess) do you remember seeing a TWISTER about 10 or 12 years ago in Japan? I know it was Japan, a pretty high profile fight, but i'm almost positive it wasnt PRIDE. It was either Pancrase or RINGS I think.

It's killing me, I know I saw someone finish with it at some point.
