My guess is that NXT will be similar to Tough Enough / The Ultimate Fighter, just minus the house hijinks.
It is going to be a way to put over somebody before they make the jump to RAW/Smackdown.
They should have just kept the wrestling program where ECW was at, just changed the name. Not a fan of this mentoring junk and I haven't even seen it. It just smells of poor programming.
A lot of the former ECW wrestlers have gotten over once on RAW/Smackdown, in large part because when they debut, they have a prior history that fans know about.
Danielson would have been another to go over after his stay as champ in ECW, for sure, but they decided to take ECW off the air (the name, I agree, needed to go yesterday, but the actual formatted show...just change the name and keep going but with a direct approach at young guys...an extension of FCW, so to speak).
