Mouth to Mouth: 5.4/10 - It's message of misplaced and misunderstood youths is powerful within itself; however, the film never digs as deep as need be as to find shed some light on its topic. In many ways the film aimed to be too unique in its representation of those looking to find themselves and their place and calling in this world. The story was convoluted by its foreign and radical group of characters, none of which were developed and seemed to be thrown together. It is respectable in the sense that the film doesn't offer complete closure as life is, after all, a journey, yet the film fails to connect character, experience and audience.

Howl: 7.1/10 - Half of the film is simply the poem "Howl" accompanied by visual representations of the poem itself, which is a treat when combined its forceful recitation. The other half of the film consists of the trial of "Howl" and whether or not it was obscene. While the court scenes do take away from what could have been more enthralling and impressive additions to the film such as more background on the poem and/or its author, they aren't entirely out of place as they show just how much impact the poem had on society and how different it could be seen or interpreted. The film is beautifully shot and wonderfully acted, especially by James Franco, who had one of the best year's of anyone in Hollywood.

Personally, I liked it a good deal. One of the better action flicks this year.

Thanks for the link. I actually just got on VSN and saw this post after the movie so I read it after I finished the movie.

It seemed like it took me longer to read your review than it did to watch the movie. There was absolutely no downtime in the movie. I was watching for what I thought was about a half and hour and all of a sudden there was only 15 minutes left. It sets up for an obvious sequel and ended pretty abruptly, but it was a good action flick nonetheless. I'd watch a sequel as well.

I watched the first three Planet of the Apes movies tonight.
I bought the five Blu-Ray boxset for $29.99 from Amazon.
Forgot what an underrated hottie Nova was in the first two Planet of the Apes.
If I had to get stranded on a planet of apes with her, I'd deal with it.

I liked this movie very much. I saw it in theaters though. When you spend money on a film you kind of tend to justify your purchase a bit more and hope for the best.

I liked it, but I can totally see how it'd come across as cheesy. Those Bahstan white trash movies are hit or miss for a lot of people now.

I didn't think The Town was bad when I saw it in theaters, but it certainly didn't live up to the hype I'd heard about it. Didn't really have any memorable qualities that made it stand out in the crime/cop mold.

Agreed. I thought it took a lot of crime movie conventions and put it together in one movie, but it was executed to perfection. Ben Affleck is a phenomenal director.

Another movie that came out this year (Takers) did essentially the same thing The Town did, but in the heist movie genre and it failed miserable.

Did the opening bank robbing scene in The Town not seem like a near rip off of The Dark Night? That's all I could think of while watching the first 20 minutes.
