That's not the reason, but my reason is somewhat related. I never gave a fuck either way about the guy until that series, but Blade constantly referring to him as "Chooch" in the threads just drive me nuts to the point that now I hate the player.

sidenote- incidentally, the no hitter really didn't piss me off that much. I've posted about this before, but i'm sort of a weird fan. Postseason losses don't bother me that much. I try not to be a spoiled fan. I want my teams to get to the postseason pretty badly, but to me, anything more is just gravy. I usually have perspective when they lose and figure that to make a deep run, the season was a success and likely pretty enjoyable. I get more heated at random blown saves in mid July than getting knocked out of the postseason.

Let's be fair here.

ARod has been bad in the clutch as a Yankee, for all but one year (2009).

What you have to understand, is for a team like the Yankees, "clutch" is defined different than for almost any other team (maybe the Phillies have reached a similar level, but personally I don't think so). ARod can hit over .300 in the playoffs, but if he K's in a key spot with a game on the line, or goes 0-4 in a Game 7, that's a failure and it doesn't really matter that he went 3-4 in Game 2 in a game that the Yankees won 8-1. The standard is different in NY. They make the playoffs every year. HR's in April mean a little less, and big playoff spots over ride all else.

Take a look at his OPS in each playoff series as a Yankee. Out of 11 series, he was below his career OPS in 7 of them. The last two years, he's 9-50 in the playoffs. Last year, Arod, Texiera, and Swisher all disappeared against Detroit. In 2006, Arod went 1-15 in the ALDS against the Tigers. He's been bad far more often than he's been good.

Overall, the Arod hate among Yankees fans is stupid considering he's won two MVP's for the team and up until maybe this past season he's been there best player since the day he got there. Obviously it has a lot to do with Jeter, which is also stupid, but again, to be fair, Arod talked all that shit about The Captain when he first got to NY, and you just don't do that.

Yankees fans are geeks for hating on Arod, but I can't kill them for hating on his postseason failures. He's had tons of them, and has had some BRUTAL playoff series.

Not one of those Yanks fans that hates A-Rod but I'll take a crack at explaining a bit more. Like you said, when he got to NY there was the supposed rift between him and Jeter. That was a big strike against them. Then there's the contract. People naturally hate on someone they perceive to make way too much money. Then, every time he makes a misstep there's about a billion cameras around and he always has some lame explanation. His whole persona came across as fake even before the roids issue.

The roids issue is two-fold. Not only do people hate him for the simple fact of using them, but I think they're also upset that he was supposed to be the clean player that broke the all time HR record and dethroned that roid-rager Barry. Once that came out, it was all downhill as far as the public is concernede. It doesn't help him that Jeter is still the golden boy. Even when DJ gets caught doing something naughty it's just funny and dismissed as part of him being a bachelor, like the whole thing with the gift baskets.

I personally don't hate the guy. Don't think there is a player in the league that I hate, but I think that's how Yankees' fans who dislike him got there.

All Asian players seem to have this fan base that follows them around and cheers for only them. They don't care how the team does, just how their player does. One player that's fresh in my mind is Shin-Soo Choo and the 10-15 Asian Choo fans that sat in our section. I've also seen it with Ichiro whenever the Mariners are in town and I've gone to the game.

Andre Ethier...I cant stand that fucker

I was in love with Ethier for about a season and a half. I can't believe how he turned into such an emo crybaby. He bitches and moans and makes excuses all the time. Just shut up and play idiot. That's what Kemp did.

Kemp used to piss me off too. He was always bickering with the vets (although he gets a pass on this because the primary vet giving him shit was Jeff Kent who is... Jeff Kent) and used to play with what seemed like a chip on his shoulder. He took bad routes to the ball in center, he swung at every goddamn down-and-away slider, and he stole bases at the dumbest times. I used to get annoyed watching him bitch and moan to second-base umps. "Shut up, you were out" was something I said to my TV way more than I wanted to.

Then he finally had an off-year and had to put up numbers. He shut his mouth, trained with sprinters all winter, worked on fundamentals with Davey Lopes, and then what? 2nd in MVP voting and most people would agree that he wouldn't have been a bad choice for the #1 spot.

But not Ethier. He has a shitty year and it's everyone else's fault, or his knee's fault. Or the organization's fault for making him play with a hurt pinky. Shut up Ethier. I hate when he cries to press, says dumb shit about the ownership, and throws a fit after every strikeout. I won't be the least bit surprised when he bones out after next year and goes to the Red Sox. He's been saying for years that he wants to play with Pedroia.

Anyways. All that aside, I'll say right now I hate JD Drew and Nyjer Morgan the most.
