Would you really consider this a "re-evaluation" of the Josh Freeman experiment?

I was under the assumption that this new staff wanted this kid from day one because the coach and him have connections from their days at K-State.

When he was drafted, I never thought Lefty would start over this guy.

I wouldn't hold my breath. This is from boys upstairs who want their "prized" piece of shit quarterback on the field. Funny thing is, the Glazers - whom I once had a ton of respect for - think that this is what the fans want. They think that just because this kid was drafted in the 1st round - that he's a franchise guy and they think it is going to make the fans come together and blindly throw down money for season tickets. Well, the Glazers have done all they can to get people to buy tickets this season. They have lowered prices, waived the deposit fees, offered mini-plans, offered payment plans, etc. and it has not had an effect. This kid is not the savior and he'll set us back for years down the road. Forcing him on the field early will only speed up the bust label that he'll hold down the road.

Matt Ryan had had weapons around him, including the league's number two rushing offense, to make things easier on him and allow him to ease into things.

Joe Flacco had one of the most dominant defenses in the league helping him, plus the league's number four rushing offense.

With rookie quarterbacks it often depends more on the players around them than upon them in their first year. Do you really think Big Ben goes 15-1 as a rookie if he is put on the Lions?

Exactly. Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco have rotted people's brains. There have been 4 successful rookie starters the past 15 years. Those two, Manning, and Roethlisberger. Three of those had top 4 running games AND top 10 defenses (Pit and Baltimore's were both dominant). The other is Peyton Manning.

We're probably not going to be a top 10 defense OR a top 5 rushing team, much less both. The probability of him getting anything out of playing early is nil. He can sit behind average QBs, like Cutler, Palmer, Romo, etc etc.

I can't comment on the Falcons because I didn't/don't follow them closely, but in the Ravens case, nobody thought the Ravens defense was going to be as great as it was after '07, when they were giving up 30+ in seemingly every game. My point being looking back now, it's easy to say that, but pretty sure most people prior to the year, didn't feel the same way. It's how things can change in a year, with a change in coaching and some new talent.

The Bucs were what, 8-3 at one point last year? Another team I don't follow close and I may be wrong but that tells me poor coaching or injuries derailed the season, both of which shouldn't be a factor entering the year.

I'll agree it is rare, but never say never. Who knows what the upcoming season will bring, you may be surprised. Just saying, unless you are, say, the Lions or the Browns, you don't want to automatically write the season off.

How is Freeman raw? Just curious. He's an underclassman, sure. But, he started for nearly 3 years in the west coast offense. So, he's experienced...and he's familiar with a pro offense. His mechanics are pretty good as well. His decision making needs work, but you can say that about any rookie signal caller...including the guy who went #1 overall this year.

I'd call setting rookie records for TD's (26), yards (Almost 1,000 more than the previous record), completions, and attempts pretty successful for a guy on such a shitty team.

Not a great year when you consider his interceptions, but for a guy in his first year in the league it was pretty good.

He still set rookie records . And it is fair to say that he made mistakes and thew picks he shouldnt have but the biggest positive about Manning was that he was learning from his mistakes quicker than most rookie/1year quarterbacks do.

Lets see if Freeman can do the same (i doubt it)
