I'm not sure he even needs that one to get in, but hell, it'll def help. He's one of those guys that's going to be in there eventually, unless he does something crazy like get to 25 return TDs or something it won't be for a very long time though.

No one has made the Hall of Fame as a return specialist. The three special-teams players in the Hall are kickers, and only Jan Stenerud was exclusively a specialist. Lou Groza was an all-NFL tackle, and George Blanda threw 236 touchdown passes, 21st on the all-time list.

◆ Though he’s just ahead of Brian Mitchell on the all-time list for career kick-return touchdowns (15-13) and Eric Metcalf for punt-return touchdowns (11-10), his impact is significantly greater. Hester has 11 touchdowns on 182 punt returns (one touchdown for every 17 returns) and 15 touchdowns on 303 total returns (one for every 20).

Metcalf needed 348 punt returns to get his 10 touchdowns (1 for every 35). Mitchell needed 986 returns to get his 13 touchdowns (one for every 72).

◆ Hester’s impact goes beyond those numbers. He also scored on a 108-yard field-goal return as a rookie in 2006. His 96-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff in Super Bowl XLI stands as the only time in Super Bowl history that the opening kickoff has been returned for a score.

There's THREE kickers in the H.O.F. (albeit two of them played other positions as well) . Don't see any reason why Hester can't get in being the best returner of all time, there isn't even a close 2nd.

The previous record holders did it over the course of very long careers.

Hester did it in half the time they did. He will literally SMASH the record.

He will change how KR/PR are voted in. Bringing up his ability to play WR is silly because that isn't relevant to anything.

Hester and Vinitieri will pose some interesting problems for voters down the line.

Hester gets in eventually. His MNF , SB returns are stuff of legend. He was infinitely better than superb Metcalf or the mediocre Mitchell.
Only thing stopping it is someone else like Cribbs somehow catching up or surpassing him.

Which doesn't seem likely. Both are 28 and Hester is seven returns ahead of him.

I know one thing, HOFer are players that have had huge impacts on the game and the way he returns kicks (and ocassionally @ WR) he fits that description....he's unlike anything we've ever seen back there and is already the standard comparision for returners
