- I liked the original version a good bit, but this remix is unreal. Luda finishes his verse perfectly to set up the awesome hook.

Brief Notes:
- Do you know how hard it is to follow up a classic debut with even just a solid sophomore effort? So many rappers fail to do this, but yet K.R.I.T. succeeds with this album. It doesn't have the consistency that Krit Wuz Here has, but the stretch from "Another N.I.G.G.E.R." to "Country Shit (Remix)" at the end of the album might be better than Krit Wuz Here's best four song stretch.
- This might be a controversial view, but I feel like Big K.R.I.T. is the best producer for his own songs. Kanye West is still the best rapper/producer out there today, but all of K.R.I.T.'s beats fit him perfectly and are just easy to fall in love with. He's been blessed in both areas and I can't wait to see even more progression going into future albums.
- The only flaw I can say about this (and it's a slight one) is some of the hooks. "My Sub" is a great example of what I'm talking about. However, if you hate the hook "Sookie Now", then I might need to slap you in the face. That gets me hyped in the same way "O Lets Do It" by Waka Flocka Flame does. AWWWWWWWWWW SOOKIE SOOKIE NOW!

wish I didn't take this long to check this out, but I don't listen to a lot of southern rap, but this was a really dope project.

- I don't even have a word that can describe this song. The unaminous choice in my mind for best this year.

Brief Notes:
- I heard this comparison by a friend of mine and I see it the more and more I listen to this album - Kendrick Lamar is the Nas of the digital-age. He puts a lot of emotion behind his music and is very conscious of his surroundings, which in part makes him an even better rapper...and we haven't even gotten into how technically impressive he is or how his persona resembles Nasty Nas in a way. His voice isn't as grating as it was in the Kendrick Lamar EP or last year's critically acclaimed mix-tape (O)verly (D)edicated, but it still might turn the listener off at first listen; it almost did with me when I started to visit his music. If you can get past that however (and believe me, you want to), then you'll find one of the best young talents out at the moment and definitely someone you'll hear more from in the future.

Brief Notes:
- As a R&B enthusaist, I'm saddened by the way how the mainstream has affected some of the most popular artists in the genre. Trey Songz has thrown off the vibe of his last two albums by adding songs like "LOL " and "Bottoms Up" to please his 14-year-old fanbase. Chris Brown just released an album that mostly sounded like it could be on Radio Disney if the lyrics weren't as sexual. In Lloyd's case, he puts songs like "Luv Me Girl", "Bang" and "Cupid" (although the latter two aren't that bad) on an album with incredible R&B songs like "Naked" and "Angel"; two extremely focused efforts that showcase his talents more than anything else he's put out in his career. If artists would just stay in their lane instead of sacrificing their talent to create a song fit for the radio, then I'd love a lot more R&B albums today than I do from the past. This is why I enjoy Frank Ocean and The Weeknd more than any other R&B artist at the moment, because they stay in their lane and create music that is appealing to the core fans, not the teenager that likes the catchiest song on the radio. Granted, they aren't held back by record labels, but still.
- Lloyd's voice also becomes very grating the longer you listen to the album. He's blessed with some incredible talent, but there's just something that makes the songs less and less enjoyable as you go on.

Brief Notes:
- The magic of mixtape Wayne just isn't here on Sorry 4 The Wait. Part of it is because of the beat selection and part is because of lack of effort exerted in this. In the Drought and Dedication (excluding the third version) series, Wayne would take a beat and make it his own tune, which is one of the biggest reasons why they were so well received. On here, there's flow-jacking from the original song along with attempts to re-create a previous song in his discography. There are some great tracks on here that would fit in well on Wayne's best mixtapes like "Gucci Gucci" and "Sorry 4 The Wait", but the majority of this is just forgettable or downright bad. I still think Tha Carter IV could be a really good album however, but Wayne has to have his head on straight and don't put out a half-assed effort like this.

Brief Notes:
- No I.D. did it again. After being the star of Big Sean's debut album, he created an unique atmosphere with his production on his collective group Cocaine 80s' debut EP. His selection of vocalists (along with rapper Common) was a good one, as they all create a feel-good vibe which in turn has the listener go through the seven-track project numerous times in one setting. To put it lightly - this is some good ass music, man.

I had a few of these done a few days ago, just never was around to post them. I also have the Lil B RYM review ready to go (didn't do a full-fledged one because I really don't have the time to sit down and write one) as soon as I get the brief notes section done.

I hate Tyga, lol. But I might stream Well Done 2 off DatPiff cause I need more horrible stuff to round out the bottom of my list; give it more balance, ya know? I heard his freestyle over Yonkers and it might be the worst thing I've ever heard.

Brief Notes:
- I love the concept of this tape and Bei Maejor does an admirable job with it. The song quality diminishes one-by-one through the first half of the tape, but then a catchy Third Eye Blind sample is all that's needed to pull the listener back in. "Single" doesn't fit the theme (hence why it was listed as a bonus track when I downloaded this) but Bei rocks that song as well as you possibly can without topping the original. This, along with Frank Ocean's "nostalgia, ULTRA", The Weekend's "House of Balloons" and Jhene Aiko's "sailing soul(s)", gives R&B some of the better projects in 2011, with none of them being big names at the start of the year.

Brief Notes:
- This release really sneaks up on you. You go through listening and although not much really makes you say "wow", as soon as "All My Life" ends, you start the CD back up again. I wasn't a big fan of Jay Rock coming into this and honestly only checked out this after hearing "Hood Gone Love It" on MTV Jams. I'm thrilled that I did, because his performance adds onto my thoughts that Top Dawg Entertainment might be the most underrated label in the industry today. I still need to fully review Setbacks by ScHoolBoy Q, but the main artists in TDE have incredible chemistry together and really just know how to make good music.

- Tyga just sounds so forced and all his punchlines are cliche and stale as hell. Not to mention, he flow-jacks in about every song when it's better to make your own song out of someone else's beat. Just not a fun tape or artist to listen to.

Only reasons I listened to the previous two tapes is because I needed something to make me laugh + I wanted more bad stuff on my RYM list to balance it out and give it more depth. I feel like it's too top-heavy at this point, so the last two tapes will help bring that down.
