- I like Mary J. Blige, but there's way too much of her here.

- I like the piano drop on Busta's verse, saves the song.

Haha nice. I really just reviewed the album because of I'm On One and that it was on my list that I'm working on now.

Trying to knock out a lot of these in the next few days so I can get to some anticipated Fall releases.

lol. Perhaps I should have said "compared to TCIV, TCIII was some pseudo-classic shit." In any case, if he had anything on any level that ever qualified him to say "I'm the best rapper alive," that was it. That, and maybe DD3 and Dedication 2.

Brief Notes:
- Ambition is a good album, but it doesn't hold Attention Deficit's jockstrap. The sequence of "Focused", "Sabotage" and "White Linen (Coolin')" really bring this down, especially the latter two tracks.

Brief Notes:
- There's a part of me that's satisfied with Cole's debut and part of me that's disappointed. Tracks like "Cole World", "Work Out" and "Mr. Nice Watch" should never have been on here especially with all the awesome free tracks that were included on his mix-tapes. Still, I can't be disappointed with a great album that I went out and bought and listen to daily. Cole really improved his production tip on here compared to Friday Night Lights, although the beats to "Rise and Shine" and "God's Gift" sound a bit similar.

- Kendrick's verse can be taken in the point of view of the boyfiend in Marvin's Room. It's nice, but not needed though.

- Not a fan of the beat.
9.) Make Me Proud (ft. Nicki Minaj) | 3 - 3.5

- "Know that I don't make music for niggas who don't get pussy/So those are the ones I count on to diss me or overlook me". Oh, and J-J-J-JUST BLAZE!

- Would be higher if it was just Good Ones Go. Might be the best part of the entire album.

- Or maybe Stevie Wonder's harmonica solo is the best part of the album.
13.) The Real Her (ft. Lil' Wayne & Andre 3000) | 4.5 - 5
14.) HYFR (Hell Ya Fuckin' Right) (ft. Lil' Wayne) | 3
- Not as horrible as the title might suggest, but it sticks out like a sore thumb during this incredible ending stretch.

- Or maybe the phone call by his grandmother is the best part of the album.
16.) Practice | 4.75 - 5
- Clever remake, perfect for late-night activities.
17.) The Ride (ft. The Weeknd) | 5
- Abel sounds like a dream here.

Brief Notes:
- This is not a rap album; let's get that out of the way right now. What this is, however, is an album that should be appreciated for its honesty and atmospheric feel. Drake addresses mostly relationships through the duration and although the casual music fan might feel like Drake comes across as whiny, you can absolutely put yourself in similar shoes (not the exact same shoes, because chances are you're not a mid-20s music star) and relate to what he's saying about women. As a college student who's been in a few relationships the past few years, I can see or have done some of the things Drake mentions throughout the album (i.e. the entire "Marvin's Room" concept).
- "Cameras" and "Practice" might be better on the chopped & screwed version of this, as crazy as that sounds.
- I'm still going to write a full review for this at some point and will edit it in when I do - just wanted to get something posted for the gradebook.

This is about what I expected....I agree for the most part except I like Take Care more than Crew Love and Headlines. Crew Love was disappointing to me but I still like it.

And shit, even I can relate to some of the things Drake is talking about on this album.

Yeah, I expected more but I can't say I don't love the album, because I do love it.

Should have put Jay on Rise and Shine with the whole beginning sample, cut Mr. Nice Watch and Cole World and added It Won't Be Long and Cheer Up. I think that middle section with the two aforementioned tracks really made a big impact on people's perceptions on the album along with derailing the momentum it had after Sideline Story.

I for one wouldn't mind if artists went back to doing more freestyles on their mixtapes instead of putting all their dope songs on there, only to have their albums fall below expectations

Exactly. You get Sideline Story which is like this incredible, engrossing track and then you go to "swag" shit. If you're going to make it a perceived concept album like he did, then do the concept, tell your story.
