This is my thinking. I want my game system to have the best games. I dont need it to make me coffee, play music, play movies, or skype anyone, just have brilliant games.
I feel like such an old fart when I dont know what the abbreviations refer to....
As far as infamous, I played it for a tiny bit on a demo a while ago. Is "Second Son" a game I can just pick up and play or do I need to work through the first 2 to understand it?
It's definitely easy to pick up and play. It's a pretty great game and tons of fun. They keep releasing extra content every Friday called Paper Trail where you use a combination of actual gameplay and solving puzzles on your computer. It's quite innovative and damn fun.
As for the whole debate, as many have eluded to, it all comes down to personal prefereence. If you are a CoD guy (sorry to hear that) I', pretty sure the Bone still gets any DLC first. I'm not sure if it;s a one month times exclusive like it was on 360 though. Then you have Titanfall which has tons of similarities to CoD so you would probably really enjoy that game. If you're a racing fan then you also have Forza. It's a pretty bare bones effort and has an unbelievably boring carerr mode but it looks amazing and of course the online can be tons of fun. Ryse might still be the best looking game on the new gen of consoles. It;s tough to compare completely different games though. Overall Ryse just looks stunning, but a game like inFamous is open world and still manages to look amazing and the lighting and particle effects blow Ryse away. Plus Ryse is extrememly straightforward and you'll probably be done with it after the six or so hours it takes you to finish it. inFamous takes about 15-20 hyours for one playthrough and most peoople are encouraged to play through again to see the other karma options. PvZ is also a ton of fun but I think it's a timed exclusive and will be releasing on PS4 at some point.
PS4 is also killing it with indie games. I think the Bone has one at this point? Max and the Cursed Brotherhood I think it;s called? It might not even be indie but it's downloadable. PS4 has a ton of really fun indie games like Don't Starve, Outlast, Marcenary Kings, Resogun, etc.
You also get one (that will probably change in the furture as more games become available) frre game per month with your PS+ subscription. So far they have all been of the indie variety but they are all fun games. As of now you still don't get any free XBOne games with your Live subscription.
You also have MLB The Show coming to the PS4 in about a week and ZERO baseball option on the XBOne besides the arcadey RBI 14. It sounds like you're a big baseball fan so that could be a deciding factor. The next Uncharted game should be coming in the next year as well. Plus you have the definitive edition of The Last of Us coming in a few months, one of my favorite games of all time.
As for apps and additional media features, both of them have a lot of teh same things. I know you mentioned Hulu and I believe both have Hulu apps. the Bone does have more multi-media apps and they are supposed to be better. I don't use them though, I just play games on my consoles. There is also the option to run your tv receiver through the Bone and I do use that. But I honestly think it;s pretty shitty. The picture is degraded a bit., it doesn't support true surround sound (at least not with DirecTv) and the guide on the Bone sucks. I just end up using my DuricTv remote and guide. It's more of an encumbernace for me than anything but I'm out of HDMI inputs and I'm already using one splitter so I'm kind of stuck.
Lastly, as of this point and probably for the life of both of these consoles, the multiplatform games have been looking and running better on PS4. There have been a few, like Need For Speed, that about as identical as possible. It's like the complete reverse of last gen where for the first several years multi plat games were better on 360 because the 360 was easier to develop for. The differnece being that at some point developers started familiarizing themselves with the PS3 architecture and mnay of them started creating either identical versions to the 360 or even better versions on PS3. In this gen the PS4 is supposed to be easier to develop for and technically more powerful. Most "experts" are saying that the Bone will probably never catch up in terms of multi plat games because of this.
