To actually answer the question:
Go with the one where you have the most friends you actually interact with have.
360:
Pros:
Xbox Live is awesome. No denying it.
Usually gets demos, DLC, and other shit first.
Great exclusives like Gears of War and Halo
Xbox Live Arcade is awesome at bringing back old school games and having great new ones such as Geometry Wars and Shadow Complex.
Cons:
Hardware functionality(Some people say "Hey, that time's over!" Bullshit. If at any point you have a 33% hardware failure rate, it's gonna be in the back of people's heads once they get E74/RROD.
Paying for Xbox Live (not much of a con if you enjoy the online.)
Loud ass system.
PS3:
Pros:
Silent System.
Arguably more Reliable System
GameSharing(Download most of your friends games and DLC)
Free Online
Great exclusives like Demon Souls, Killzone, Uncharted..
Cons:
Online is simply that. Just online. No Cross-Game Chat, and the interface is basic.
May get DLC, Demos, or games Late due to Microsoft
Overall, if you don't know what to get, you should probably go to Microsoft due to the greater size of community, and the amount of interaction microsoft puts into Xbox Live(Such as Guides and Tips to games). Also, The amount of work put into the friends list is great.
However, if online isn't that big of a factor to you, PS3 is probably the way to go since it's free(for now at least).
Tried to be of help without trying to troll either system.

opcorn:
This is EXACTLY what I was trying to avoid. The point is, people love Gears of War and Halo. I don't. Doesn't stop them from being great, and very popular.
As for the "geometry wars" being new comment, I meant new in comparison to some of the classic games they have such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gunstar Heroes, Sonic The Hedgehog, and other games that were for consoles such as the Genesis, Super Nintendo, or any console of old. So, yes, in contrast to those systems, geometry wars is relatively new. I'm fully aware that Geometry Wars was on Project Gotham Racing; however, that was on a VERY short-lived console.
Gonna skip the 54% according to multiple sources comment. Point is, it had a ridiculous failure rate at one point.
When Blu-Ray gets cheaper or does something that makes a Dual-Layer DVD's a nuisance, it'll be a Pro; for now, it's just a different format used for games. I'm aware that a dual layer Blu-Ray can withhold about 50-60 gigs, and a DL DVD holds about 8.5 tops, but still, there isn't enough difference to label it a PRO.
Will give you "wireless included, not extra", although I'm fairly confident that, by now, the Wireless controller is the norm in every 360 package available.
No batteries, you got me. Although there is a charge n' play kit for 360.
Hard Drive you got me.
Now, for the Cons, i've said that the cross-platform chat is a huge thing.
Cross-Platform patch release might be a wash. MW2 might have gone to the ps3 first, But i'm pretty sure that NBA 2k10 had a huge patch for 360 a couple weeks before PS3 saw it.
Just for you, buddy, I'll redo my pros and cons.
Xbox 360
Pros:
Cheaper. (Cheapest 360: 200$; Cheapest PS3: 300$)
Bigger install base.
Good Exclusives (Mass Effect, Fable, Forza, Gears of War, Halo, Episodes from Liberty City)
Xbox Live (Party, Cross-Game Chat, Dedicated Servers, Facebook[Xbox allows you to update from the console; PS3 just spams your facebook wall with trophies you've earned], Last.FM, Twitter)
Xbox Live Arcade brings across great games as Soul Calibur, Geometry Wars, The Dishwasher, Sonic The Hedgehog)
Cons:
Unreliable.
Loud.
Paying for Xbox Live.
Uses batteries for controller.
Playstation 3:
Pros:
Quieter System.
More Reliable.
Free Playstation Network.
Good Exclusives (Uncharted, Demon Souls, Killzone, Gran Turismo 5, Heavenly Sword, God of War)
Great PSN Games support (PS1 games like MGS, Final Fantasy, and Resident Evil)
Don't have to charge controller.
Cons:
PSN just isn't as good as Xbox Live, or as interactive.
Losing exclusives to Microsoft.
Really, there isn't much bad to go with either. Once again, if you have more friends on either one, it's probably best you go with that one.
Are you happy, MMMMbeeer?
I have both consoles and I use my PS3 more.
