I have just been getting them and selling them. All for practically nothing, but hey, I'm up to like $4 now.
You only have to run the game to get card drops, but it seems like each game has its own set amount of time for a drop to occur. For example, it took me about four hours to get all of my drops for Orcs Must Die! 2 but only three hours to get twice as many cards for Organ Trail.

There are booster packs that have a chance to drop and contain three cards for one of your games. The drop rate of those is supposed to increase every ten Steam levels. Booster packs are your only chance at getting more cards once you exhaust your initial drop allotment without buying from the marketplace or trading.

Card drops for free-to-play games work differently. From what I understand, you get a new set of drops for every $10 you spend on that game.

Just go to your Inventory, select a card, and click the green "Sell" button at the bottom of the description. You'll be shown a graph with the price history for purchased cards, and you can put a listing price on your card.

The most I have sold one for was $0.50, but hey, free Steam bucks. I agree though, they seem insane. I am baffled that people are buying them, and I've heard that some got for like $8.00 which seems like utter madness.

They should at least let you get some sweet paper like the cards from SI For Kids were on, and print your own cards! Then I would do it (I absolutely would not do it).

Okay so it's pretty much what I thought. Is the extra 100 XP off to the left of your cards available when you get all of the cards? I wasn't sure what that was either.

If that's true about F2P, that's pretty gross.

Once you complete a set, you can craft a badge that is worth 100 XP. You'll also get an emoticon and profile background for the game badge you crafted, but you'll lose those cards in exchange. Badges can be "leveled up" for another 100 XP, emoticon, and background by completing the set again.

I don't think the F2P stuff is that gross. The people who play them a lot and put money into them get something in return, and if you absolutely must have the cards for F2P games, you can trade for them or buy them from the marketplace for a lot less than $10 for a set.

I just find any carrot and stick things with F2P games gross. That and I just hate F2P games regardless. At least those cards aren't worth more or hard to find. I assumed that they would be.

At the end of the day, I just don't really "get" any of this trading card stuff outside of looking at it as a vehicle to slowly but surely earn something for free on Steam (even though it's for playing games I already paid for).

              GODDAMNIT.

I need to be at work in the morning and I basically missed the final game of BF3 with Rylo for PS3.

I traded mine in to GS before it actually died. I knew it could pass their "test", but yeah LoU pretty much murdered my PS3 and GTA will more than likely melt a bunch of people's older systems

I may be borrowing a buddys Jay so we might have some more times.

KNUBB did they put a disc in for their test to see if it read?

Mine read discs. Just if they played Last of Us for like 10 minutes it would overheat.

But no I don't recall them checking a disc. Just turned it on to see if it would boot to the OS.

Well I might try to trade my old one in then. Just bought a 3rd Gen for 150.

I have been having some small issues with my PC regarding audio and flash...cant seem to figure it out. I have a fresh copy of Windows 8 here...wondering if I should make the leap.

It's not that bad. It's nothing amazing, but it runs wells for me and it's pretty intuitive. It's better as a touch function, but still not bad.

Windows 8 really isn't all that bad. It won't go down as one of Microsoft's best outings, but it's no where near as bad as that bloated POS Vista was. It's actually faster than Windows 7 from my observations. I miss the start button, but they're bringing back something similar in Windows 8.1 which is releasing late October.
