For the future vision of Madden, we want a football coach that's never played Madden before to be able to take down a Madden Challenge competitor...and these are some of the steps to get us to that goal.
I want to play Bill Belichick in Madden NFL 10.

3-18: Per Ian, player stances can now be overridden from their default position entry on a per-play basis. Hense, an outside linebacker can be placed into a 3-point stance in a 3-4 play for hybrid teams such as the Ravens.

3-18: The following teams will be 3-4 teams in Madden 10: Dolphins, Jets, Patriots, Ravens, Steelers, Browns, Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs (More than likely), 49ers, Cardinals, Packers, Cowboys

Hopefully he knows that the Cowboys are also installing a 4-6 "hybrid" defense this year, as well as a new nickel scheme that involves replacing the SS.

They used both formations sparingly last year but all signs point to them being more prominent this season.

Any hybrid teams are listed as "3-4", such as the Ravens and Cardinals.

3-18 Hammond and Collinworth recorded new audio together, rather than in separate sessions.

But will they actually be, you know, "hybrids"?

I can only recall the Ravens fitting such a description last year and their defensive scheme is different from Dallas', at least in the nickel.

(The Ravens' version of the 4-6 would be similar to Dallas, since Wade got the idea from back when he worked under Buddy Ryan)

Our plans for this coming week are still in flux. There is an excellent chance that there will NOT be a blog on Monday, 3/23.

There will be a blog this week but it will likely supplement what we hope is the first Madden screenshot released. Here's the very rough plan, just to keep you all in the loop.

                      - One day this week (we hope Monday), a Madden screenshot will be released. Likely on Peter's blog.
                      - Several days later, we'll have another blog that details some of the features in that screenshot.

This will be a graphics blog. No blog on OL/DL interaction as speculated earlier in this thread.

                      Stay tuned!

                      Phil
                      Nice.

3-24 The first Madden 10 screenshot was released via
Peter Moore's blog, revealing hand towels (Ian confirmed fully articulated and animated), Superbowl patches, Superbowl team sideline art, Second team color gloves, and referees and chain gangs on the field.

3-25 Breaking Down "The Shot"- Art Director Michael Young breaks down the new features revealed in the Peter Moore screenshot.

3-25 Pocket Protection A blog written by the NCAA team that Ian has confirmed also applies to Madden.

3-25 Ian has stated that the deep passing game is going to be far more varied, with more variables taken into account. Likely, Deep Accuracy will play a large role, along with the defender's coverage rating. Great cover corners will be able to slow down fast receivers, but for lesser corners, being matched up with significantly greater speed will hurt. Much more information available in this thread.

3-25 New penalties added including Illegal Forward Pass and late hit out of bounds. Ian is accepting suggestions for other penalties and how they should work in game.
