Let me clarify. I know that there are still plenty of FF fans out there but you can just see with each release that the fandom is drastically decreasing. Just take this site for instance. Is there even a thread for the game? I mean, it's a new FF game. Shouldn't it be a pretty big deal?

There is zero buzz for the game.

I'm not saying that turn based battles is why but I do think that the JRPG style as a whole is dying a slow death. It seems the only people still interested in them are the real diehards for yesteryear. Western RPG's with real time combat are taking over.

It isn't even turn-based(Active-Time battle) and the reason there is no thread is because it is a true sequel and a sequel to possibly the worst FF of them all. The last true sequel to an FF game was horrible in my opinion. I know of people that loved X-2 but I didn't. I still have hope for XIII-2 though

        Grand Theft Auto Vice City

        Platforms: PS2/Xbox/Mac/PC

Rush, Rush give me yayo. That song reminds me of two things, GTA Vice City and Scarface, both of which personify the 80’s. If it wasn’t for GTA 3, Vice City would be my favorite sandbox game of all time. I’m warning you guys now, this is the longest review thus far.

Vice City literally puts you in the shoes of Tommy Vercetti, a mafia member from Liberty City, who is released from prison in the mid 80’s for mass murder. How he got out, I don’t remember. Vice City is a fictional depiction of Miami and god damn does it look like Miami. The game is beautiful in every single way. From the pastel colors, car models and characters wearing those tacky suits from the 80’s. First and foremost I will start with the gameplay. Vice City is obviously built on the same engine as Grand Theft Auto 3 but with some changes here and there which is in no way shape or form a bad thing. One of the biggest additions to Vice City is the ability for the player to buy property. You can buy strip clubs, a taxi business, an ice cream truck (which if you’re smart is really a drug front) and many, many more businesses. Not to take away from this money make but another huge addition to the game was the ability to fly helicopters. In the original GTA 3, you could see them flying but you couldn’t actually fly them yourself. This was a huge thing to put in this game because after you’ve unlocked the whole city, Flying was the best way to get to where you needed to go quickly. Once again the final thing they added to really blow us away was motorcycles. I always wanted to drive around Liberty City in a motorcycle but never could. Rockstar did us good in Vice City by adding them and damn was it fun to do jumps and run over people with them. They also added a lot more weapons but most aren’t all that memorable except for the Chainsaw. OMFG did I love using the chainsaw in this game.

Another paragraph? Yes, im breaking this game up because I hate big long paragraphs when I write this much. Anyway the sounds of this game were undeniably the best in the whole series. Rockstar really went all out this time by getting Ray Liotta to play the main character. No other actor in my mind would have played Tommy Vercetti better than Ray Liotta. Not only is he a big name actor but other famous actors were featured such as Tom Sizemore playing Sonny Forelli, William Fichtner as Ken Rosenberg, former Miami Vice actor Phillip Michael Thomas as Lance Vance, Luis Guzman as Ricardo Diaz, Burt Reynolds as Avery Carrington and the late Dennis Hopper as Steve Scott. Seriously guys there are a ton more but I can’t write that much. I’ll say that the voice acting was amazing but the real star of the game was the radio stations. Oh my god, I’ve never heard a soundtrack that is the 80’s more than this game. If you turned on Emotion 98.3 you would here REO Speedwagon’s “Keep on Loving You” or “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross. You could change the station to V Rock hosted by Lazlow and listen to the game’s band “Love Fist” or Ozzy Osbourne’s “Bark at the Moon”. But for some odd reason the one song I always wanted to listen to was on Wave 103. As gay as this sounds it was “I Ran” by Flock of Seagulls. Give me a break I was in 10th grade when this game came out. Other than the music and characters, the sounds of the NPC’s, car engines, seagulls and ocean waves all sounded spot on. The little things like that made this game come a long way.

Finally I’m gonna run together two things. The story and just little things I picked up on about this game. Without completely spoiling the whole story for the three people who have never played this game I’ll let you in on it. As I said before Tommy Vercetti is the main character of the game. You have come down to Vice City by the request of your old boss Sonny. Tommy meets up with Ken Rosenberg, the lawyer of the Forelli crime family. Ken sets up a Cocaine deal that goes terribly wrong after everyone except for Tommy get gunned down. The story boils down to Tommy trying to set everything right and kill the man behind the ambush. The story takes forever to complete but isn’t a bad thing at all. The game does feature the standard fetch quests and escort missions expected in the series but it also features mostly very fun missions that made me want to play through the game again just to try them. In my opinion this is the best story in the entire series and is probably the best writing and direction in a game I’ve ever seen. I will not go on any further about the story because if you haven’t experienced it in its entirety then you really need to. A few things I want to leave you with before I wrap this up is that the game takes a lot of things from famous movies depicting the 80’s. Movies like Scarface and Blow are ones that stand out most but the TV Show Miami Vice is what mainly has inspired this game. The story line is loosely based on Scarface as well, so if you’ve seen the movie then the game will play out similar to it IE getting your chainsaw. One thing that always made me laugh is when I got my wanted level up, characters eerily similar to Crockett and Tubbs from Miami vice would show up in their convertible corvette. Always good for a laugh.

I hope some of you guys actually read that because it took a while to write. For those of you that have never experienced this epic game you should watch the video below and do yourself a favor and get this game.

Vice City is my favorite out of all of the GTA's. I know San Andreas will be higher on the list, but everything about Vice City epitomizes awesome.

San Andreas was already posted. That leaves one more GTA.

I played Vice City soooooooooooo much, I think it's the only game I've ever tried to find all the little things. I remember sitting in front of the TV with the fold-out map that came with the game circling all of the ramps on it so I could hit all of them.

                    The Sims

                    Platform: Everything

The Sims is another game that came out on a lot of consoles but the PC version is by far the best. As a young teenager I spent a lot of time on the family PC hogging it from everyone else as I tried to have the perfect fake life. It has spawned numerous sequels and expansion packs for good reasons which I’m about to tell you about right now.

What the Sims basically is boils down to a life simulator. You take control of either one person and try to make it in the world or you can take control of a family and live their day to day lives. I will give you guys the run down in the easiest way possible, as a single man from adulthood to death. You start out in a little town/neighborhood. You can either move into a house by buying it or build one from the ground up. Building from the ground up is the most self rewarding route but with little money you’ll likely end up living in a shack with little more than a bed, tv, kitchen and maybe a computer. You can’t go all rich to start out because first and foremost you need to get that paper (money). Once you get a job you have to gameplan your day around it. Your sim needs to eat, sleep and interact with people. You will end up with bills and it is the utmost importance to pay them or people will reposes things in your house. When I struggled to make ends meet I usually sold walls or floor tiles just to pay the bills. As time goes on people will visit you and you need to make friends with them or you will suffer from being socially isolated. You can choose to pursue a romantic relationship with them, become best friends or become enemies. It is completely up to how you interact with them through choices you have. When you do choose to get married you can have them move in with you or move into there house. Freedom was always a big thing with The Sims. For work you can move up the corporate ladder through reading, working out or gaining charisma by talking in the mirror. It goes more in depth but you will stay where you are at in the workplace if you don’t increase your stats. As you gain more money and become more financially stable you can choose to make sexy time and have a kid. The kid can be taken away after they are born if you neglect them and their happiness and needs fall in the red. Bascially your life will live out like this as you go from adolescent to young adult to adult and finally elder. When you reach the elder state your time as a sim will slowly come to the end and eventually the grim reaper will pay a visit. It comes down to rock paper scissors with that honky and if you lose, you’re dead and the game is over. The game can consume a lot of your real world time as you try to become more successful at work, with family and socially. That’s how life lives out for your sim and before I wrap things up there are a lot of funny things I’d like to add. If your toilet becomes clogged you have to fix it or deal with your sim complaining about the filth. Robbers will break in and take your stuff and if you don’t have an alarm your sim may not wake up and awake in the morning to a living room with a coffee table and a desk lamp while your TV and coach are gone. One of my favorite things to do is when a neighbor I hate comes over I invite him to swim in the pool. He gets in, I get out and enter the building mode. What I do in the building mode is quite grim, I remove the ladder and watch him drown. My inner Charlie Manson comes out as I laugh at his demise.

This review doesn’t do this game justice at all. There is so much to do in the sims and its subsequent sequels. So do yourself a favor, watch the video below and maybe check out Potatoes’ Sims chise.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 was by far the best in the series. Tony Hawk Downhill Jam on the Wii is actually a ton of fun as well, definitely a change up from the rest of the series because it is a racing game instead of a trick/challenge game.

After The Sims 2 the series became too much of a chore adding in way too many things you had to do to survive and shit. Just keep it basic and simple bitches.

Agreed. And the expansions for Sims 3 keep coming! It would cost like $400 to get fully up to date
