All of this shit looks nice...but I gotta keep it real.

How often will I fucking use this thing?

My 360 currently collects dust. I have little to no time or even desire to play video games anymore. And, that's ok, this thing still intrigues me for its media center usage. But, let me ask this...what does it do that I can't already do or have done, without having to pay for this shit.

HBOGo? iPad to TV via my AppleTV and AirPlay.

ESPN? Actually...a selling point, but I can just watch it on my laptop (for ESPN3 Exclusives) and connect it to my TV wirelessly (because I'm a badass like that) or if I want a rock solid connection, just HDMI it to my TV. Not hard or any step other than getting up.

Netflix and Hulu? AppleTV already does that.

Streaming Music? I've already got that covered at the highest end possible.

      Streaming Movies? AppleTV and Airplay.

Skype? Cool, but I just don't need it, I rarely use it as is...and by rarely, I mean never.

The voice and motion activation? Nice, but really...unnecessary in the grand scheme for me.

Needing to pay an added fee to play a used game? LOL. Go fuck yourself.

I'm not a 16 year old kid anymore where I'd be going crazy over this shit...so, really...wtf is this new system doing that is new or worthy of the big price purchase as well as continue to pay an extra monthly/yearly fee for their online service?

Holla back @ me VSN with an answer.

If you have no desire to play games...then you have no need for this.

Its a video game console....no one would spend $400-$500 streaming box. If you want to play next gen COD, Sports games, ect vs/with your friends, you will need to buy this or a PS4 at some point. If there is no demand for that....then it wont sell.

Do I get a hankering a few times a year to play a game? Sure. But I usually have a short attention span. Love NBA2K...will play it for maybe a month...MAYBE two. I won't be buying any EA Sports game anytime soon...I'm done with that shit. Other games...I will usually buy them WELL after they are on the used shelf for more than half the price, but, why would I buy them now when I got to pay another fee (on top of purchase price) to pay the damn game? LOL.

And, I do have to question that gaming = need or no need for this system...they spent less than 50% of their time discussing everything about this video game console on actual video games. Its clearly more than that. Its as much as a video game player as it is a BluRay player or a Smart TV hub.

you will know better if you want this in 2014 after a lot of the hype and all the questions are answered. Until then enjoy your current consoles.

What fucking facts?!? You claimed that PSN stability was somehow inferior to Live and people on Live use mics more. Both complete horseshit statements. Then you backpedaled and said that you just preferred Live.

having played tons of games with people on both consoles, i can easily verify that more people on 360 use their mics... as for the XBL vs PSN, i assume he is talking about the great outage of 2011, as well as what seems like monthly maintenance that brings the network down for hours or sometimes a day or two...

PSN may be as dependable as Live now but that has not always been a true statement. Also from MY expiereince NOT yours I run into more people with mics on xbox then PS3. Is it possible that its different for you? Yes it is, so no its not a horseshit statement. I'm not here to be in a pissing contest with you so we will just have to agree to disagree. I prefer xbox live over PSN but I do play multiplayer games on both platforms.

Here is my oh-so-humble opinion on this next generation:

Why is Microsoft doubling down on this TV stuff? Because they see the writing on the wall with the future of gaming...meaning, we're heading for another crash like after the Atari 2600. The user base is so huge with the 360 that they know they can't abandon it like they did with the original Xbox. People my age, and even a little younger look at the 360 and say, "Why the hell do I need anything new?"

I wouldn't even consider buying a new system until this one is nearly obsolete....unless it gives me a reason to buy it. Games will still be produced for years. It still plays movies and streams my music. Disconnecting from my cable provider is a pretty good reason, though.

Parents in 2013, especially those who weathered the recession and are much more financially responsible now, will be very wary of buying any new $600 system. How much will the games cost? $80? Too much. Why not stick with what they have?

This new generation of consoles is doomed. There is no need for it now, no matter how cool it is.
