my question is will you know when that silly "check in" is?

It's really the only aspect of the "always on" thing that bothers me (well, that and, what the fuck is MS going to do when their servers crash on national CoD day and I can't connect?). Just like you said in your post...WTF happens if my connection drops at 11:59PM, the check is at 12, and I'm in the middle of a game? I assume they would have some sort of window, but the ideal thing to do would be that your 24 hour "window" starts the second you disconnect, no matter what. Which makes the idea of a check in, super dumb. Can I check myself in to avoid that problem?Comment

My hope would be that the check in occurs immediately at logon, and then the 24 hour period begins at first logoff. Next check in occurs after 24 hours if you're logged in, or immediately once you log in if it has been 24 hours since your original check in.
That's about the least intrusive way I can think of, unless they want to be really user friendly and just say that a new 24 hour period starts every time your connection is ended.Comment

its gotta be some internal mechanism cause as soon as you disconnect from the internet MS has no way of communicating with the box anymore. So the second you disconnect from the internet and the xbox is on it will keep checking for internet and after 24 hours it wont allow you to play games anymore.
WTF man...we are probably off basis but shit is dumb.Comment

I need to see in real life how this is ACTUALLY going to work...nobody has the system so we are guessing. MS has not revealed explicit details either.
I just hope as someone online 24/7 I never even know this is happening.Comment

SRS - I'm sure that that is how it is, I just hope at least that it registers your last connection (logoff) as the beginning of the 24 hour point, and not some arbitrary check in time at midnight every night or something.Comment
