DANCE CENTRAL, BRO!!!
In all seriousness tho, this is what turns me off the most. Even though they are completely botching everything with they complete lack of explanation on anything and everything, most of the stuff is doable for me, personally. But making me purchase this damn thing is full retard. I hate motion gaming, I do not care about telling my XB1, "Xbox on" and it just doesn't make sense to make your console require it.
Honestly, speaking to my console is just a massive leap in user experience. I get the lameness of motion gaming because the tracking is always atrocious. But as a interface its great and seemingly has taken even bigger steps. That being said forcing EVERY xbox user to have one is retarded. I "get" why. They dont want the XB0 experience to get badmouthed by all the folks opting for a cheaper console and missing out on the full experience. But nigga dats why youz a game console. The fact they dont give people the option is pretty solid proof that gaming is secondary to the media experience.
The old "developers wont support it any other way" excuse has expired. When Bill Gates said 15 years ago we eventually want to "control your living room" I dont think he meant "use us exclusively as your entertainment vessel" not "manipulate and observe every action you take" there.Best reason to have a license.

From what I've seen, a lot of people are excited about the voice commands. It seems that they like the prospect of just plopping down on the couch and saying "Xbox On" and whatnot without having to find a controller. I believe they also like the potential the voice control has in games.Comment

So simply don't do it. If you're upset that you have to pay $100 extra for the system, largely because of the kinect being required, wait until we hear more about the game sharing. If it is half as good as what is being reported, you're saving a shit load of money right off the bat by not even having to buy a game with it. I'd likely save $240 on launch day, $180 if I buy one game. We'll wait and see.Comment

Personally I can see the Xbox one getting royally fucked when it comes to the speech commands. Have they adjusted the system for different accents not just around the country but different languages around the world? Asian American accent? Southern? New Yorker? Canadian? Etc Etc
Although if this means Asians can't play Xbox this might sell me on getting the system

I've been told it recognizes sounds it shouldn't, like the game or tv, and reacts to those sounds poorly. I haven't used it more than a couple times without issue, but it's a 1st generation technology, so it's bound to have some issues.Comment

The problem is, as of right now anyway is that I play in a dark room on a projector and my 360 is next to me, not in front of me near the screen. So, I don't know how well it works in the dark (assuming it doesn't very well) and I'm quite certain that it doesn't come with a 16' cable to put it in front of me. For audio only, that is fine but not for motion. So, I hope its not 'required'. I don't mind it coming with it but I shouldn't have to use it if I don't have a need for it.
And I'm not so sure about the whole game sharing thing. There has to be something MS isn't telling us because Microsoft doesn't allow users to share anything without forking over money. Also, from the eyes of a developer, that would really suck.
I can't see too many developers saying "Nah, go ahead, let everyone share the game"
It would be awesome but like I said before, there has to be a catch. Family probably means, same IP address or the person that owns the game has to sign in on another console and/or be present.
I'm sure you don't want to give your credentials to 10 other people.
I'm telling you, there is a catch.

The very last sentence is the key. There is a catch, I'm telling you but they're not telling us.
Xbox One: You Can Share Games With Any 10 People
Ryan King
The 'family' you share your games with is family in name only, as Phil Spencer confirms it can be any 10 people.
Published on Jun 17, 2013
Microsoft's Phil Spencer has clarified the 'sharing 10 games with family' idea on Xbox One via PA Report.
Microsoft has already announced the 'family sharing' feature of Xbox One that allows you to share your games with up to 10 members of that group, but it wasn't clear if they had to be in your family or not - and if they were, how would Microsoft check?
This gave rise to lots of talk about Kinect checking who you'd be sharing your games with and so forth but Spencer has clarified the policy.
“It’s not ten different people all playing the game concurrently, but when you think about a real usage scenario, and we thought about it around a family, and I know certain people will create a family group of people that aren’t all part of the same family, and I do think that’s an advantage, and people will use that," Spencer explained.
"I saw it on NeoGAF instantly, the Xbox Family creation threads, where people said 'Hey be a part of my family.' No birth certificates will need to be sent in! I do think that’s an advantage of the ecosystem that we have.”
The internet has done a better job of explaining this feature than Microsoft has thus far, and what's more, this seems to be the best aspect of Xbox One - particularly in light of all the negativity surrounding the console to date.
Why isn't Microsoft making a bigger deal out of this feature?
