Hey guys I'm only getting a PS4, so I wanted to hang out in here all day and act like a huge faggot like everyone else that is doing that. I can only afford one system so I'm going to just pretend like the xbox sucks dick and the PS4 is the best console out there, because that is the one I'm going with. I chose the PS4 because there's a madden league on this terrible fucking website I visit, and the PS4 has the better leagues on that site, and that's basically the only reason.

Even tho its against my better judgement I'm getting both consoles. The used game thing doesn't even bother me, it's the authentication at least every 24 hours that does. Even steam has an offline mode.

JMS, look for me on launch day so you can see me in your rear view mirror like usual for some Forza 5 lol.

A few thoughts about that pastebin (ignoring why an alleged engineer is posting about this stuff instead of MS execs):
              • SMH at thinking they have a chance at competing with Steam and other digital PC game stores. Their (Sony's and MS') current strategies need a huge overhaul for their digital stores if they want to get near the level competition that you'll find on the digital PC game market.
              • Comparing a daily check-in to Steam is a bit disingenuous. Steam offers an offline mode that lasts much longer than one day for those games that don't have third party DRM that requires a routine online check.
              • Don't act like you're saving people from GameStop with your secondhand games policies. Yeah you currently get shitty buyback prices, but you also have the choice to not sell your game to them. You can resell the game yourself (which will become practically impossible with their DRM) and get a lot more money back. Also, those reactivation fees will probably push trade-in prices lower because those retailers are making much less of a profit off each game they resell.
              • I don't care if Kinect does some neat things. It doesn't matter that you can turn it off. I don't want to have to pay to have a peripheral that I absolutely do not want, but I need in order to use the console. MS would've had a better response if they gave people a choice with Kinect.

Some has to start towards getting to an all digital market...MS strategies are already very different than Sony's. Isn't that pretty obvious?

I don't think what I see them doing is enough of a step in that direction though. Limiting the activations certainly prepares people for how life would be in an all digital age with regards to not being able to trade/sell your games, but I don't see how that starts allowing their digital marketplace to start offering Steam-like sales when MS still has to appease brick-and-mortars.

We cant see it because the thing isn't even out yet. It is pretty clear that MS wants to stop used games and move to all digital. This launch console, like the 360, probably wont look anything like the Xbox One 5 years from now. This is a move towards the next console being fully digital. If there is a new console. That move is probably 7-10 years away.

It is not surprising at all that everyone hates it...

What is Steam's check-in? I honestly don't know, but I felt like I heard it was every 24 hours? Can't remember where I heard that from or if it's right.

I agree that both Sony and Microsoft want to move all digital eventually. That's not the point I'm trying to make though.

I'm saying that (at present) they don't seem to have the policies and cooperation that would drastically change their pricing structure on games, and trying to imply that their prices will be on par with what you'd get from Steam is not very honest.

It really depends on the games you're trying to play. I've read claims that people have gone for months at a time without Steam checking in and others that only lasted a few days.

Huh...I'm literally baffled as to how that would even work. I mean, now that I think of it, it must, because I couldn't boot CoD2 for the longest time just because it was "unavailable".

So I guess it's the ultimate example of developer/publisher control? Granted, as I said before, the thing that really makes the PC different from the Juan is options.
