White Xbox One Could Be Sold in the Future

Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson, has been active in the comments of the Reddit post where the image of the white Xbox One surfaced. In response to a question about whether a white Xbox One will ever be sold to the public, Hryb responded, "[M]aybe waaaay in the future."

While it may look good on displays, I don't think I would ever want another white console. They just stick out like a sore thumb in your entertainment center.

Report: The Xbox One Will Not Launch On November 8 After All

Yesterday, we heard from a source at a marketing company who had seen documentation pencilling the Xbox One in for a tentative, unconfirmed November 8 launch. Today, a source close to Microsoft tells us that's not the case.P

The source says to expect the console at a date later than November 8, though obviously still in the month of November, as that's the release window Microsoft has promised for some time.P

So hey, we're back to not having a release date, but at least armchair fortune-tellers can now rule out November 8 (or earlier!).

Microsoft today provided an aural example of the difference between Xbox One and Xbox 360 voice chat quality.

Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb provided two audio clips, one recorded on Xbox One and the other on Xbox 360.

Xbox One audio quality is said to be an improvement over Xbox 360 due to to integration with Skype's audio codec, as well as "dedicated audio processing."

In addition, thanks to the Xbox One controller's new expansion port, the rate at which data is transferred between the controller and the console is increased, resulting in better audio quality.

Speech is captured on Xbox One at 24 KHz PCM, which is triple the rendering sample rate and a 50 percent capture rate improvement over Xbox 360 headsets
