You stay out of trouble this year. And no more babies. I don't care about how beautiful or well-written it is... we don't need another fucking Charles Rogers.
Wait... Ethan's white. Nevermind, fuck up his career. Black people need a white guy to pass the blame off too.

I might update tomorrow. Not sure if it will be the first game of the sophomore season or if it will be another filler before the game, we'll see.

Heisman Darkhorse
"Five minutes guys," the producer shouted. Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit were looking over the stories for their season preview show as the assistants touching up on some last minute things before the show went on live.
"Welcome to College Football Live," announced Chris Fowler. "It's hard to believe it's been over half a year since Florida won their second consecutive championship, but believe me, this season should shape up to be a very exciting one. A lot of star power has graduated and some younger players are ready to step into the spotlight. Lee, who's your top five to start off the year?"
"I really like this USC squad," Lee revealed. "And they are my pre-season favorite. Matt Barkley looks like the real deal at quarterback, they are stacked at tailback like always, and the defense is one year older and one year smarter. My other teams would be Florida, Alabama, Virginia Tech and Penn State. Florida return most of their team but lose two-time Heisman winner Tim Tebow. Alabama is a close third, but after losing two straight SEC championships, I won't pick the Crimson Tide until they can prove they can beat Florida. Virginia Tech is fourth because of the progression of quarterback Tyrod Taylor. If he continues to improve, you might be seeing your 2010 Heisman winner. And finally, the Big Ten comes in with Penn State at five. This all depends on how well new starting quarterback Kevin Newsome replaces departed starter Daryl Clark. If he plays well, the Nittany Lions will be smelling roses."
"I'm going to steal a line from you, Lee," Kirk said. "And say 'not so fast my friend!' Alabama just returns too much talent and are my number one. Julio Jones is my darkhorse for the Heisman trophy and will be the first receiver to win it since Desmond Howard. The defense will breathe a sigh of relief because they won't have to face Tebow in the SEC title game. They have an early test against Penn State, but if they win that, they should breeze their way through the rest of their schedule. USC is my two, Virginia Tech is three and Florida is four. Now you might think I'm a homer, but I have Ohio State at number five. Pryor has steadily improved since his freshman year and this will finally be the season he beats Penn State. Disregard the fact they went 7-6 last year; this team is talented and will be in the Big Ten race the entire season."
"So you two had basically the same top four teams in various order," Chris said. "But disagreed with the top Big Ten team. I agree though about Alabama - that match-up could determine whether they go undefeated this season or not. Now onto you guys' Heisman favorites. Kirk, you first."
"Well I already said about Julio," Kirk reminded the audience. "But let's get back to my other contenders. Sophomore quarterback Matt Barkley definitely has the publicity behind him and plays on one of the top teams in the nation, so you know he'll be in it. Terrelle Pryor improved enough last year to make me think that he'll make a Vince Young-esque junior year jump - he's going to be outstanding. And finally, I have Big Ten rival Evan Royster of Penn State making a Heisman run. He was second team all-american last year and will most likely make the first team this season."
"Royster is my favorite," Lee said. "I really believe he might have between 1800 to 2000 yards and 20 plus touchdowns. His offensive line should take a lot of credit to that - they are possibly the best group in the country. Besides Royster, I have West Virginia runningback Noel Devine, who had a very solid season himself last year. Then instead of Pryor and Barkley, I have two receivers. Jones is one, but the other is a major darkhorse. I think if Ethan Woy of Syracuse has his starting quarterback Ryan Nassib step up, he might earn a trip to New York. He has possibly the best hands in the nation - don't worry about that game against West Virginia - and if he clears his off-the-field troubles, we could be looking at a season similar to Larry Fitzgerald's sophomore year."
"Interesting predictions men," Chris said as he was leading out to a commercial break. "When we return here on College Football Live, we will discuss why Charlie Weis got another year to turn around Notre Dame and will Michigan possibly compete with Penn State and Ohio State for the Big Ten title? Starting quarterback Tate Forcier will join us to discuss his young team who surprisingly went 9-4 last season."

Eh, I might have the time to get an update done this afternoon. I already have two pages done on my second term paper, so if I put that off an hour or so to work on an update, it won't really hurt me.

Long Road Ahead of Us
Boston College Eagles (0-0) at Syracuse Orange (0-0)
Silence filled the home locker room. It was the first game of the season against Boston College and almost all my teammates looked nervous. We lost our emotional leader in Delone last year and no one seemed like they wanted to step up and take over that role. I guess it was mine by default, despite the fact I was only a sophomore.
After coach made his speech, we all ran out of the locker room and to the edge of the tunnel. I pushed my way to the middle of the huddle and filled Mr. Carter's role very nicely.
"There's something," I started to yell. "Something about this team, something about this season, something in the air. Can you feel it!? Forget the disappointment of last season, it doesn't matter. This is the year, the year we shock the nation with our talent and prove that Syracuse isn't ever an easy win on the schedule. Teams should fucking afraid to play us...do you hear me!? No more bullshit; let's show them what we're made of." I must have done a good job because those looks of nervousness turned to ones of eagerness and willingness to get out on the field. Finally, I smirked and cried out, "who we are!?"
"SU!"
"And what we do!?"
"Stomp on you!"
"I said, what we do!?"
"Stomp on you!"
"Break it down now! One, two, three..."
"SU will rock you!"
...
"And here are your 2010 Syracuse Orange," the play-by-play announcer said, with a hint of excitement in his voice. Boston College is coming off of 6-7 season last year, and has the talent to compete for an ACC title. It was definitely one of the most intriguing match-ups of the first week.
We won the toss and chose to receive. Junior runningback Doug Hogue started the game off with a few runs, but then Ryan couldn't hit a receiver and we were forced to punt. Boston College's runningback Montel Harris ripped apart our defense and scored to put up the Eagles 7-0.
And that was only the beginning of the end for us. Ryan came back next drive and threw an interception, which led to another Harris score. Our offense started to get going in the second quarter, but then another bad pass by Ryan was picked off and returned for another score. I hung my head in disgust as it seemed like I was playing with Greg all over again.
I had a decent game for the most part, but Ryan and our defense continued to struggle. He threw another pick six and the other side of the ball allowed 34 points in a shellacking that proved we definitely had some work to do get become a contender. And yes, that silent locker room before the game was once again silent afterward.

Changes
"Great practice guys," said Coach Marrone, as the team was huddled around him. "We should be ready for Saturday, it's time to prove last week was a fluke. Remember that our flight leaves at 9:00 tomorrow for Washington, so make sure you are here. Besides Woy, you guys are free to go."
Huh? I wonder why I needed to stay.
"Ethan, Coach Green wants to speak to you," he explained to me. "It's nothing serious; he just wants to go over some last-minute game planning and other shit."
I just nodded my head and went back to the lockerroom. After showering and getting dressed, I knocked on Coach Green's door and he motioned for me to come in.
"Sit down Ethan," he said. I was kind of surprised that he didn't have Ryan in here as well, seeing that we were apparently going over some last-minute game planning. Unless he already talked to him, we might not be on the same page.
"What's up Jer?" I asked, hoping this meeting would be fast and painless.
"Do you remember when we put in a basic version of Texas Tech's offense over camp?"
"Yeah," I replied. "What about it?"
"It's time to break it out," he revealed, smiling. "Washington has a weak pass defense and despite last week's struggles from Ryan, he was excited about the move when I brought it up to him earlier today."
"Spiderman's about to have some fun out there," I thought. I was still uneasy towards Ryan because of his performance against Boston College, but if the coaching staff believed in him, I guess I had to too.
"Plus without Delone, we don't have much of a running game right now," he added. "Doug didn't really impress in camp, but we had no other choice. You are our offense right now. The more you get the ball, the more successful our offense will be. And the fact that our defense is shaky right now, we'll need to score points to win some ball games."
"True," I replied. "You know I can handle the load though. Just get me the ball and things will happen."
Coach smiled even more. "That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Now get out of here and get some rest. We'll have a lot more time to talk on the plane tomorrow."
I shook his hand and walked out. It seemed with the switching of offenses, they might be going out of their way to get me a Heisman.
Nothing wrong with that, right?

Jake on Lockdown
Syracuse Orange (0-1) at Washington Huskies (1-0)
Washington, riding high off of their upset against USC last year and their bowl win, came into this game very confident. Jake Locker was a pre-season Davey O'Brien Award candidate and a darkhorse for the Heisman as well. We knew it would be a tough game but were expecting a win with the new wrinkle to our offense that they weren't ready for.
However, things looked bleak with Ryan coming out the first drive and throwing a pick six. But as fate would have it, we would score on our next drive off of a Doug Hogue run and then we got our own gift pick six from Locker.
It was 14-7 going into the third quarter, when Ryan threw me a screen pass. I received a great block from fellow receiver Lavar Lodbell and was off to the races for a 60 yard touchdown. Moments later, our defense picked off Locker for the second time and then Hogue found the endzone in three plays to give us a 28-7 advantage.
Despite two more interception touchdown returns by Washington's defense, we held their offense from scoring a single point and won in convincing fashion. I was upset with Ryan's performance, especially since he was the only reason why the Huskies scored, but the joy of winning overshadowed my anger.
