VINTAGE EMMITT - CARDINALS GROUND GAME SHOWS UP IN BLOWOUT

Unlike last week, Emmitt Smith found a gaping hole in the opponent's defense. This 42 yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave Arizona a 17-7 lead.

ARZ- Emmitt Smith 42 yard run (Neil Rackers kick)

    FOURTH QUARTER
ARZ- Neil Rackers 21 yard field goal
NO- Aaron Brooks 80 yard pass to Donte' Stallworth (John Carney kick)

GLENDALE, AZ (AP)- After an awful performance by the ground game last week at Atlanta, the Cardinals got a boost from an all-time great. Emmitt Smith had 151 yards and two touchdowns and Erik Bickerstaff added 85 yards in Arizona's 44-14 blowout win over the hapless New Orleans Saints. Drew Henson, who only threw 19 passes compared to the 58 he threw last week, got things going with two throws to Larry Fitzgerald. Smith then carried the ball three times for 13 yards before Henson found Anquan Boldin for an 18 yard touchdown. Aaron Brooks led the Saints back down the field on a nine play drive which ended in a touchdown pass to Boo Williams.

Arizona then went on a fifteen play drive that ended in a Neil Rackers field goal to put them up 10-7 in the second quarter. A three and out by New Orleans was proceeded by four runs by Bickerstaff, followed by a 42 yard touchdown by Smith. Rackers tacked another field goal on the board before halftime. Smith carried the load on the first drive of the second half, carrying it five straight times before Henson found a wide open Boldin for a 42 yard touchdown. Brooks then threw an interception on the next drive to Coby Reinhart and Smith just needed two carries to find paydirt. Back-to-back three and outs gave the Saints the ball back late in the third. Brooks threw the ball towards Joe Horn when Dexter Jackson jumped it perfectly and ran back the mistake 65 yards for a touchdown. The Arizona secondary was great again, forcing Brooks into two interceptions and a 34% completion percentage. The surprising Cardinals go to 3-1 and will head to the Bay Area to face the San Francisco 49ers.

    NO- Aaron Brooks (10-29, 202 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT) | ARZ- Drew Henson (12-19, 175 yards, 2 TD)

Yeah Emmitt finally broke out of his shell and played well. Bickerstaff gave me some good carries as well.

I'll try to have the Around the League update tonight; it's the completion of week 4, therefore I'll have in more in-depth with more statistical leaders and standings. I'll do this every four weeks.

Lol, well that's all Henson has to throw to. Boldin and Fitz are the only two that can catch consistently for me and the tight end, Freddie Jones isn't awful either. Once Bryant Johnson comes back from injury, expect Boldin and Fitz's catches to drop.

I'm going to have an update now. Tonight, probably no update as it's our conference championship in track. Tomorrow, definitely no update, it's prom night. ;) And Sunday is Mother's day, so probably no update then too. Just letting you guys aware of my schedule.

                    Blog Update 1
Hey guys! I'm Drew Henson, starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, and welcome to my blog. Right now, we are currently 3-1 and leading the NFC West division. No one expected us to be in this position, and hell, I didn't even expect to be wearing Cardinals red and white this season. I figured I'd hold a clipboard for Quincy Carter at Dallas all season and get an opportunity for the starting job next year. Thanks to Dennis Green for realizing my potential and taking a chance on me. So far it's definitely panning out, I mean, look at my numbers. (1324 passing yards, 11 TD, 5 INT) Those look pretty good for a rookie, huh? Can't hype myself up too much, my teammates have been great too. Emmitt Smith has really taken me under his wing on the ins and outs of being a player in the National Football League. I was awestruck when I first met him and to play with him is a blessing. Boldin and Fitz have been amazing catching my passes; they're the main reason for my success. We play San Francisco this week, so hopefully we can get a win. Josh McCown, the man I replaced, was traded there, but Tim Rattay starts instead of him, so we won't have to worry about him playing the game of his life due to revenge, haha. I'll try to update my blog about every two weeks, so if you viewers/followers have any questions for me, make sure to post them and I'll get to them next update. Talk to you guys later, The Franchise is out.

Haha well you know how I make my quarterback's personalities: cocky as hell. I'll say he won't be quite as near as cocky as Colt Brennan was in the Shamrocks 'chise.

Prom was pretty awesome last night. I had a bad hangover this morning though, haha. Now that I'm feeling recovered from last night and am done with the Mother's Day activities for the day, I'll post the pre-game update here in a bit. The actual game will probably be tonight or tomorrow morning.

                            Week 5 Preview

                            at
Arizona Cardinals (3-1) at San Francisco 49ers (2-2)

                            Pre-Game Injury Report

ARZ- Adrian Wilson, SS (fractured arm - out) | Bryant Johnson, WR (torn calf - out)
SF- Eric Heitmann, G (torn hamstring - out)

                            Pre-Game Matchups

Cardinals QB Drew Henson (74-127, 1324 yards, 11 TD, 5 INT) vs. 49ers QB Tim Rattay (77-140, 875 yards, 6 TD, 2 INT)
Henson continued his solid play with a two touchdown day against the Saints last week. The surprising rookie is among the league's top three in passing yards and touchdowns. Against a San Francisco secondary that lost rising star Mike Rumph to these Cardinals, look for Drew to have another nice game. Rattay has been decent so far, but he hasn't been asked to do much. However against a good Arizona secondary, look for Rattay to make some mistakes.

Cardinals HB Emmitt Smith (76 carries, 295 yards, 4TD) vs. 49ers HB Kevan Barlow (68 carries, 280 yards, 3 TD)
Smith is coming off an amazing game last week against the Saints. He rushed for over 150yards and two touchdowns. Erik Bickerstaff did well in spots as well, rushing for 85 yards. These two backs should continue their success against Julian Peterson and a weak San Francisco run defense. Kevan Barlow has been an average back in his career and shouldn't make a big difference in this game.

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (34 catches, 477 yards, 2 TD) vs. 49ers WR Rashaun Woods (14 catches, 143 yards, 1 TD)
A total mismatch here. Fitzgerald and Boldin should have a field day against the 49ers secondary. On the other side, the 49ers have no established receivers, as rookie Rashaun Woods has had an average start to the season. Going against a strong Arizona secondary, the San Francisco receivers won't get open very much.

                            Prediction: Cardinals 34, 49ers 7
