More than likely so. Seems the seasons have gone downhill since four, and all of their focusing on the "dark passenger" being a prime theme seems to be the culprit.

As an adopted kid, I hope like hell this doesn't happen.

Only adopted kids can understand this. The crap Dexter broached in the last season is still icky ... no matter how hard they try to make it feel otherwise.
