If you really want to know how shit went down in the comics (not that it really matters because the show has been a huge departure from the comics since season two)
The Governor and his army of Woodbury citizens overran the prison and killed a lot of Rick's crew including Lori and their infant daughter (which gets the Governor killed by one of his own). The survivors regroup at Hershel's farm, hook up with some travelers passing through, and head off to D.C.
Since The Governor is still alive in the show, I imagine he'll be back next season at some point, but I have a hard time believing that he'd be able to gather the numbers to mount an assault now that most of Woodbury is living at the prison.Comment

I actually like the way the Govnah has turned out. I don't expect it to be like the comics because it's TV but for what they are able to do, I like it. Him shooting his own people was definitely a WTF moment for me.Comment

show was solid but it didnt leave me with "wow" factor I was hoping for. I wasnt sitting on the end of my seat and it didnt leave me with the "oh shit, I cant wait until October" feeling. Some episodes left me more satisfied but Im still all in with the show and enjoyed what happened to some of the characters.Comment

It's not necessarily hate for the character although he could (and probably should) have been written as a much bigger piece of shit than he ultimately was. I just can't see a good reason to keep The Governor around as "a regular." He doesn't have the manpower to be a threat. There's no way in hell that he'd be accepted into Rick's group. I don't see much reason to keep him as a prisoner for an entire season either.Comment

For whatever reason the entire show slows to a crawl when he's around. It's not the actor or his character it's the screen time given to him and some of the needless filler conversations. Merle and Shane were infinitely more interesting and the dynamics more compelling. Him coupled with Andrea in half the scenes didn't help as neither stir up any emotion other than "oh god just kill them".
Too much screen time imo was the problem.Best reason to have a license.

I'm starting to think Kirkman is influencing who dies because he doesn't like the actor/actress playing his character. I couldn't see Dale from the tv show becoming the Dale from the book. I couldn't see Andrea becoming the Andrea in the book. If that is the case, I'm surprised Rick is still alive on the show. Carl is the closest thing going to the book. My bet is that Tyrese is gone next. Why the fuck is the Governor still alive?Comment

This show was better when they were just on the road and always getting chased out by zombies.Comment
