I think some of you are being a bit too hard on Favre. He had a run in the mid to late 90's as good as anyone ever. He even managed to play at an MVP level for the first 2/3 of 08 and all of 09, well past his prime.

Favre is a victim of sticking around so long that his legacy is hurt. That and the penis thing. And the Wranglers.

And ... the several game ending INTs in the postseason.

I still don't understand why Tom Brady doesn't get more respect in topics such as this. The guy has 3 SBs and is pushing for another and it's not as if he was the caretaker of an offense on those teams. I was pretty young during Montana's prime, so I don't remember much of him; however, isn't Brady closer to Montana than he is to Aikman?

For me Senser, it's not a matter of how many, cause TEAMS win or lose. It's more how did the QB play in those wins/loses and how did that QB play at crunch time. And Brett had a history of very poor decisions at the most critical times in crucial games.

It's a little more than that. He had a very good run for 3 years in the 90's, but even with his great run in 2009, he still made the huge mistake at the most critical time in the NFCC game. And he has been doing that kind of thing in the playoffs since 98.

So give him credit for some great regular season years, and for the 96 playoffs, and for playing at a fairly high level in most of his 20 regular seasons, but you have to look at the entire body of work. You can't just discount 12-13 years of careless decisions in playoff games.

When I evaluate Brett, I look at all of it.

Im not sure a whole decade qualifies as "sticking around".

His like a stretched out version of Kurt Warner. At least he had the decency to stfu and dissappear during his down years before returning to form.

BTW Thats another QB Id take 100x over Favre in a big game.

                  No.

Hes a mirror image of Aikman. 3 Superbowls with teams where he didnt have to bear the burden of winning the games. Just make the 10-12 key passes and not throw picks.
Brilliant post season starts. But never as good as you'd think when the defenses and running game weren't helping out.

Brady,Aikman,Bradshaw , Starr all are very similar in what they were asked to do and what they accomplished.

Favre , Elway , Manning ,Montana ,Marino etc are on another tier because those guys did MVP type things with nowhere near the help and were THE difference between winning and losing.

Its like comparing a BestBuy salesman to a small business owners in terms of responsibility.

The Colts seemingly are never able to stop the run, and have years where they can't run the ball at all. They had a K for years who always missed the big kick. It's not hard to imagine the Colts being a 5 or 6 win team certain years, had they not had Manning.

I was wondering when somebody would bump this thread...lol

Manning is still one of the greatest QB's of all time, I'm not sure he is the best after losing the Super Bowl to the Saints with a pick 6. On the starting streak, now that Manning is out of the race, I doubt we ever see anybody go 298 and beat Favre.
