Still hasn't passed Favre for career TD's or yardage.

i would take farve over manning any day.

manning has proven time and time again that he can be beaten in the big games. wait until he has to go up against the pats in the post season...assuming he makes it that far

Cancelled out by the fact that I've never seen Manning play either.

Big games and Brett Favre don't mix.

Peyton Manning 9-11 career playoff record, Brett Favre 13-11.

I like Elway and he definitely did a lot with a little for a long time in Denver. However, I struggle to put him at the same level as Montana and Manning. That isn't saying he isn't one of the best ever, but again, when trying to pick a GOAT, you are going to critique every detail and he just doesn't match up in my opinion.

The funny thing about Montana is that he put up numbers in terms of YPA, QB Rating, and Completion Percentage that are comparable to Manning's. This was in the 80's and early 90's, while Manning is doing it in easily the friendliest passing era of all time. Even more amazing is that when Montana went to the playoffs and faced the best teams in the league, his numbers actually went up in a lot of cases. Manning's? Oh, those dropped off dramatically (although he has been improving them as of late).

If I had to choose a QB to play 16 regular season games, I would take Manning. I don't think anyone can contend that he is the best regular season QB of all time. If I had to take a QB to play in the Super Bowl, I wouldn't take him over the likes of Montana and it wouldn't even be close. You can argue all you want about championships being a team achievement and I completely agree. But when you look at Montana's stats when it is lose and go home against the best teams in the league vs Manning's stats in those same situations, there isn't a doubt in my mind that Montana is the better QB.

Peyton's not 40 yet. Could break both of those should he play out, even a portion of, his current contract.

Favre only owns those records due to longevity.

He had 10169 career passing attempts. Manning throws touchdowns at a higher rate per pass and gains yardage at a higher rate per pass.

Manning is on pace to break the TD record with ~8760 passing attempts. He's only 17 TDs away. He'll likely break it next season and do so with like 1400 less passes.

It'd take him like 1.5 seasons to break the passing yardage record, we'll see if he plays that long. Again he'd be doing it on a less amount of throws than it took Favre.

And that's before we mention has a real shot of breaking both of Favre's records while not coming within 100 INTs of Favre's career interception record.

Better hop Manning wins a SB and retires or it's over for your boy.

and Manning owns his due to QB friendly passing rules. Stop trying to qualify crap. They are all the greatest, they are all top tier . Things just don't work out for the ultimate prize for everyone

He'll play two more years and break them.

Not saying it's really a bad thing, but this guy obviously cares about individual honors.

8 passing TD's, 0 rushing TD's the last two games. Throwing in obvious 'run' situations to make sure he got there and put it out of reach from any other QB.

What kinda maniac would take Favre over Manning.
Favre also 1-1 in the SB not as good in the regular season , and almost comical his last decade of play in important games. The single most lasting image of futility in the 00s was Favre randomly throwing away a playoff game for no apparent reason.
Best reason to have a license.
