It's more like 40...and you are going to have to dig deeper into your teenage back of tricks if you think digs against my age or favorite player are going to get under my skin little one.

      lol.. Oh my god.

I said he's not the greatest ever. Not a terrible QB. That's not a knock at all on Peyton, just that this thread is about him being the Best QB to ever play the game and after tonight and his previous performance in Super Bowl XLI - He's clearly not the greatest QB ever.

He's Top 5, arguably Top 3.. not the best. That AGAIN is not a knock on Peyton (or Favre who this fits almost identically to Peyton) who is an amazing QB.. but Montana is still better.. that's the point I was trying to convey

Said better than anything else in this thread.

Dig this thing up again in 4 or 5 years. Move on.

What pace is that? All the records and one ring?

You know who has that now?

            What?

He puts up a pretty damn good performance (outside of the late pick) has his defense line shit the bed and get no pressure negating the effectiveness of a Cover-2 defense, the Saints run a perfectly designed onside kick.

            What did tonight prove?

Edit: Nevermind... I kinda see your bigger point and in a way agree.

That Montana still has 3 more rings than him?

He's not the GOAT. Again this could change some day. But that day is not today.

                I don't get it, either.

The guy completed 31 passes for 333 yards, but Reggie Wayne runs a bad route so all of a sudden he's a choke artist.

                Lame.

Manning added to the resume this year. There will be no doubts when his book is closed.

Fuck Reggie Wayne tonight. He was terrible. Half-ran route, lets the ball fly through his hands, makes no extra plays despite getting single covered a majority of the game.

Plus, reliance on Cover-2 kills another team. It's a great defense, but I think it's time has passed. It's WAY too dependent on defensive line play, if they suck or have a bad game the whole thing is worthless.

I agree. I was happy the Colts kicked Ron Meeks out and started switching things up, but I guess the absence of Freeney + lack of depth at CB made them go back to their old ways again tonight.

And I have no idea where Wayne was most of this postseason. I don't know if Manning just wasn't going at him or if it was teams taking him away but he just wasn't there

Wayne hurt his knee Friday, but most of his problems tonight were with his hands. He really played a horrible game.

I love me some Cover 2. When it's ran great, it's great. But I've seen way too many teams now falter because of their reliance on it without the proper personnel (see Bears, Chicago). It's come to the point where you have to think. So we need perfect defensive line play, stellar play from our CB and the right players to run this defense. is it even worth it?

Like I said before, Peyton is great, likely top 3, but he is in no way the greatest of all time. Montana always played his best in the biggest games, which is something Manning has yet to show. Manning may have a championship and will probably have every regular season record in the book, but Montana is still the QB anyone would take if they had to win the Super Bowl.
