Yeah. I don't think you bring in a guy like Martz, and expect to do things the same way. Now, if you guys can keep from canning the guy after one season, you're set. I expect major improvements in 2010, but you need to give the guy more than one year to do it. Don't pull a Detroit, and go from being the 9th best passing offense in one season, to 0-16 the next.

Martz may be great, but Greg Olsen will become a non-factor in the Bears offense. He's an awful, awful blocker, and that's what he'll have to do in Martz's offense. He won't split out as wide as much as he did w/ Ron Turner as the OC, and 2 TE sets will become a rarity in the Bears offense.

Though the running game is the thing that worries me the most about Martz and his offense. His 2000 Rams playbook had a LOT of "belly" plays, or plays that are meant for short-yardage situations.

Why do you worry about the running game? I think it's more likely that Forte just becomes a dual-threat like Marshall Faulk... It's not like they're gonna just phase him out.

It's just something that follows Martz around - Chicago fans don't really know anything about the guy, other than what they read. Well, he's a winner, and offenses have a habit of improving when he's brought in.. Steven Jackson got his first 1,000 yard season with Mike Martz. And we already know what Faulk did. Martz is already high on Forte, and the things Forte can do - comparisons to Faulk have already started, which is mostly Martz being the great pitchman that he is. I fully expect Matt Forte to bounce back and have a good year.

Also, this whole Greg Olsen thing.. I realize you guys love him, but the fact is, Mike Martz doesn't need Greg Olsen. I'm not trying to be an ass, but honestly, it's Greg Olsen, who gives a fuck? You can cut him right now, and the offense is still going to be greatly improved from previous seasons.

And now with Torry Holt being cut, this could be a good chance to bring in a guy who can help these younger WR, learn a little something. I'm not sure what he bring to the table, playing wise, but it never hurts to have a guy who knows the position better than most... As long as Holt isn't looking for big pay, what can it hurt?

Seeing as Olsen is the Bears only receiver/TE over 6'3, that'd be a bad, bad idea.
And Torry Holt won't be a Bear. He was mediocre w/ the Jags last season and ever since he suffered a knee injury 3 seasons ago he's lost his explosiveness. He'd just be stealing playing time from the Bears young WRs.
