Wow. WTF happened to this thread? LOL!
I don't think anybody is saying the guy is a pile of shit. But he's a young player, protected by a conservative gameplan, who has one decent season and one HORRENDOUS season under his belt. Forgive us if we would like more of a resume before we fall over ourselves gushing over him. I never came away particulary impressed with the "eye test" when watching him.
He's only thrown for over 300 yards once in his career, and that time he also threw 5 INTs. Tampa seemed to dumb down their offense for Freeman. He averaged 32 att/game his rookie year. Last year, he averaged less than 30 att/game. Tampa made a concerted effort to "hide" Freeman, and it worked. When he had to carry the team with his arm, he couldn't do it. He benefited from a weak schedule and a pretty good defense. In fact, Tampa's defense outranked their offense last season.
And I love how Freeman gets all of the credit for the Bucs sudden improvement, when two additions to the offense (Williams & Blount) were arguably the most impactful. They weren't there in '09, but Freeman was. Where was this Freeman magic wand two years ago?
Its like saying, Isaac Bruce spearheaded the greatest show on turf, ignoring that they added Faulk, Warner, and Holt.
What kind of impact did the QB (the same guy) make in 2009 without those guys?
Seems like the QB's impact was directly related to the additions of those two players.
What changed? Williams for Antonio Bryant, Blount for C.Williams. the QB didn't change, you geek. He improved, sure, but that had a lot to do with the arrrival of those two skill guys. Freeman didn't single handedly change the Bucs. Its a myth.
Get your ass on. I didnt have shit to do with this thread taking the direction it did.

Huh? I saw plenty of Freeman last year. Probably 6 or 7 full games, and decent parts of most of the others. This is 2011, DirecTV replays every f'n game in its entirety for three days.
The rest of your post is trash. Nobody gives a shit what either guy did in college. Or HIGH SCHOOL. What point are you trying to make? Dumbarcus Russell & Ken Dorsey were great in college. Who gives a fuck.
Oh, and I keep forgetting to say this.
Watching that highlight film of Freeman, the player I came away most impressed with, and who is clearly underrated and far more worthy of this top 100 talk, is Mike Williams. He's much better than I thought, and really saved Freemans ass a lot more than I thought he did last year. Gets good seperation at the line, and wins nearly every jump ball.sigpicComment

I fixed it for you.
:ionno:
I don't know, you tell me. You're the one that thinks he sucks.
I have been more impressed with Freeman than with Cassel when it comes to the "eye test", but maybe thats because I've seen Cassel more often. I saw Freeman look extremely ordinary against Pittsburgh early in the year and get outplayed by Charlie Batch. Its interesting if you look at Freeman's numbers...when he'd play a good defense and throw 35-40 passes, he'd only end up with like 180-200 yards. But when he'd play a bad team he'd throw 20-25 passes, but he'd end up with 250 yards.
And when he plays a good D he throws for fewer yards than when he plays a bad D? Holy shit! Don't let this secret get out, then everybody will start throwing like freakin Nolan Ryan out there all over the bad teams.
Pot calling the kettle black much.sigpicComment

ok.
You watched 7 full games? Williams averaged 4 receptions per game. That video I posted only had Williams catching 8 out of the 25 3rd/4th down segments in there. Only 2 of those passes were toss ups, the rest of his passes to Williams on every down in that video were on target, delivered with accuracy, zip, and in places that only Williams could have made a play on the ball. What you're saying just doesn't jive.
You watched 7 FULL games and you didn't notice until now how good Mike Williams was? Until after you watched a 7 minute clip? And now you expect me to believe you ever watched even a single Bucs game? Because I don't, not now.
My opinion from the start has been that Freeman was helped greatly by the emergance of Williams and his ability to make great plays. Then you post a video where Williams makes a bunch of great plays, and somehow this proves me wrong. You sir, are fucking toolbag. Get lost.
But yeah, you're right buddy, I'm so caught, I didn't watch the Bucs all year. In fact, I've never watched a Tampa game, period. Actually, I don't even watch the NFL. Or football for that matter. I'm not even sure what football is.Comment

Quit being closed minded. I'll be happy when the day comes that a young black QB won't be knocked for his skin color. I'll continue to groan when I see prejudice like this. To pre judge a QB, or even to make a comment in jest that he may be inferior in any way is a primes that lacks integrity and is shameful. In the least you should be ashamed you made such a comment, douche. I haven't had a problem with you for a long long time. In fact I was beginning to enjoy you as a fellow VSN member, I still do in fact. I just have to groan this narrow minded prejudicial comment you made, and I'm not sorry in the least for doing so.sigpicComment
