That corner they got went to Fairfax HS.

Kind of underwhelmed with the draft. Murphy felt like a reach. Moses seems better suited for guard. We passed on Gabe Jackson for Long. I do like the CB they took as he seems like his stock dropped due to the combine. He's certainly not 4.6 slow.

The OG we picked could step in right away, Spencer Long. Should provide a physical mauler that we need. Moses was going to us in some mocks in the 2nd, so that could be construed as a value pick, but I don't like it. I agree with the thoughts mentioned already. Breeland ran a bad 40, but he doesn't have top end speed and he's probably suited best in the slot if you can't give him safety help deep.

Murphy was a huge risk to take that high, but that's the need they wanted to fill despite having both Orakpo, Kerrigan and Jackson back. Murphy is a high motor guy though, and it seems Allen and Haslett really like that kind of player, so we will have to see.

I wanted to see Marquis Lee and Louis Nix. I know they didn't fill needs, but to get first round talents that fell that far after giving up our previous first rounders to get RGIII, we could have used that infusion of talent.

Overall, I would grade the draft between C+ and B-, but it does have some potential unlike some previous drafts we had a decade ago.

I have a gut feeling Breeland is going to be a steal.

I wanted Gabe Jackson because I think he's going to be an elite guard within one season.

I don't know what to make of the Moses pick. I'm hoping that his struggles at RT had to do with his mental preparation and offseason conditioning, and not an inherit inability to play on the right side. Because, honestly, we don't have a guard spot for him anymore. Or at least, we shouldn't.

The only pick I really like was Breeland.

Moses and Long I can go along with. Moses was mocked as a first rounder a lot before the draft so hopefully we got a steal here.

Someone explain to me why we just went and spent all this money in FA on Receiver and then we draft another one that is supposedly a clone of the guy we just gave $16 million to?

I'd also love to hear the logic behind the RB. I'm guessing either Chris Thompson, Evan Royster or Helu are gonna be hittin the road soon?

I think with RB, they are throwing a bone to RGIII. They are thinking he has the ability to catch the ball and develop into a Sproles clone, even though Baylor doesn't throw the ball to their backs. I thought with Helu and Royster we would be fine. Thompson is coming back from an injury and Helu is injury-prone, so it's likely to fight them.

Browns were interested in Cousins. Offered a 4th. Bruce Allen vetoed it. Wanted a 2nd.

                Two things are now apparent:

                1. Bruce Allen is an idiot and should be fired. The fact that anyone was offering you anything for Cousins and you turned it down. Let alone getting a 4th rounder. That's the NT we've needed for the last 4 years. That's the C we've needed since forever.

                2. RGIII does not want Cousins on the team.

DaQuan Jones or Justin Ellis would look really good on our defensive line. Just sayin.

Slateman, I think the only thing with the Redskins we disagree with is Cousins' value to the team. Like I said earlier, a fourth round is not enough for a player who has come in and started and done reasonably well. Unlike McCoy, he already knows the team and players, and we are going to try and run a similar scheme so far as zone blocking and trying to get some quick passing reads. Considering RGIII's knee, you have to have Cousins and another viable backup on the roster.

Just look at the situation Dallas was in during the playoffs. Romo is out, Orton was the only other QB on the roster, so they brought back Jon Kitna. Could you imagine Orton getting hurt and having to rely on a clearly washed up Kitna? The value of a backup QB is really understated in the NFL, and some teams don't even carry the third QB anymore.

Except, he really hasn't done that well. He has one good start. Compare that with the three bad ones. And unless Cousins blows up and becomes the next Brady, he won't garner anything higher than a 4th rounder. Next year he will only have one year left on his contract. No one is going to give up a lot for one year of a QB.

Bottom line is that if Cousins is playing for any length of time, the Redskins' season is over. Griffin will have to mask the issues this team has, especially on the offensive line.

Pretty good read of Seastrunk, with some photos and videos. Big thing is going to be developing as a blocker, which there was actually some footage on (unlike catching passes) and that shows some limitations in his ability to read defenses and picking up assignments.

We also lost Morocco Brown in the front office to the Browns as their director of player personnel (I think) which is a blow. He was key in scouting FA's, and has been a GM candidate for many teams in each of the past three seasons. My guess as to why he continues to be passed over is the lack of experience at a higher level position, which Cleveland gives him. The in-house candidates to replace him are Doug Williams and AJ Smith.

Half of all U.S. Senators signed an open letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell calling for a name change for the Washington football team in the wake of the NBA's actions against LA Clipper's owner Donald Sterling

Whether or not you agree or disagree with the name, I think we can all agree that the Senate should be more focused on other things than trying to get the NFL to change the name of one of their teams.

While Snyder has been far from the best owner in the NFL, would you rather have a hands-off owner, who does nothing to really improve the team? I do like that Snyder gave Shanahan the time to attempt to turn things around. I just hope that Allen and Gruden are afforded the same opportunity.
