Redskins coach Jim Zorn expects Clinton Portis (ankles, calf) to practice at some point this week.

Portis didn't practice at all last week but got 25 carries Sunday. He has a good matchup against Carolina, but couldn't capitalize on easy games against the Rams, Lions, and Bucs. Trade Portis if he picks it up in Week 5

The Redskins are trying out three punters today.

Normal punter Hunter Smith seems likely to miss the game with a groin injury. The Redskins are trying out Glenn Pakulak, Sam Paulescu, Waylon Prather and Ricky Schmidtt.

LOL - I don't care what you do. I just think its funny because most of your stuff can be made in one post, but, you make separate posts for each bit of news and the posts are all about 30 secs to 1 min apart.

I'm just busting your balls really.

Redskins coach Jim Zorn said on his radio show that the team will not be signing free agent RB Chris Henry.

Henry visited with the Redskins on Monday. It would have been a weird signing with Ladell Betts and Marcus Mason chomping at the bit and Clinton Portis getting 25 carries last week.

Redskins hired former Packers coordinator Sherman Lewis as an offensive consultant.

Lewis has been out of the league since 2004, but he has plenty of experience in the West Coast offense courtesy of his eight seasons with the Packers. Turning the Redskins' moribund offense around would be asking far too much. The Lewis hire was GM Vinny Cerrato's idea, but he insists Lewis is "not a threat at all" to Jim Zorn's job security

Redskins second-year TE Fred Davis is still "lost," according to beat reporter Jason Reid.

Davis, who frequently "giggled" during team meetings and forgot plays in his rookie season, reportedly still hasn't earned the confidence of the coaching staff. He has just three catches for 10 yards through four games

The Redskins signed P Glenn Pakulak to their practice squad but left Hunter Smith (groin) on the active roster.

The Skins are holding out hope that Smith can play on Sunday. If he can't, they'll call up Pakulak, who beat out Sam Paulescu, Waylon Prather and Ricky Schmitt for the opportunity

Malcolm Kelly revealed that he suffered ligament damage in his right thumb in Week 3 against the Rams.

The injury won't keep Kelly from practicing or playing, but he's experiencing pain every time he catches the ball. Kelly wasn't a reliable producer before the injury, and this certainly won't help him hold off Devin Thomas

Clinton Portis (calf, ankles) has not been listed on the Redskins injury report this week.

Portis didn't practice at all last week and still saw 25 carries. He's in line for a full workload against a Panthers defense that has yet to stop anybody on the ground. We rank Portis No. 10 among running backs this week.

                                Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident

Just got off the phone with multiple league sources who confirmed that running back Clinton Portis and fullback Mike Sellers had a heated verbal exchange earlier this week over Portis's frustration about Sellers's blocking this season.

No punches were thrown during the argument - which occurred Monday at Redskins Park and was first reported late Thursday night by WRC (Channel 4) sports reporter and anchor Dan Hellie - but the players had to be separated and restrained, the sources said. From what we're hearing, Sellers confronted Portis at the complex after learning Portis requested to have Sellers removed from the game during Sunday's 16-13 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at FedEx Field.

While speaking with coaches, Portis requested to have blocking tight end Todd Yoder take Sellers's place in the backfield against the Buccaneers. Apparently, Portis's frustration stemmed for the ill-fated fourth-and-goal play in the 19-14 loss to the Detroit Lions on which Sellers failed to execute his blocking assignment, Portis failed to score and Detroit took over on downs.

In a text message to a reporter, one source emphasized no punches were exchanged, and he played down the argument as players "simply letting off some steam." But the Sellers-Portis incident underscores the tension at the complex during a week in which owner Daniel Snyder hired an offensive consultant, Sherman Lewis, because of his dissatisfaction with the poor point production of Coach Jim Zorn's version of the West Coast offense, and in which defensive coordinator Greg Blache, a week after emphasizing the need for personal accountability, informed team officials he no longer would answer questions from reporters - a mandated duty under NFL rules for all coordinators.

The Redskins (2-2) face the Carolina Panthers (0-3) on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium.
