According to Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post, the Redskins have expressed renewed interest in Florida State DE Everette Brown.

The Redskins are also eyeing Texas DE Brian Orakpo, but may actually prefer Brown, who "could be a hybrid end/linebacker," writes La Canfora. The Redskins are thought to be shopping their No. 13 pick, but are likely to select a defensive player if they end up drafting there.

The Newark Star-Ledger "hears" that the Redskins are trying to move into the No. 2 spot to draft Mark Sanchez.

St. Louis would love this. Washington faces an "uphill climb," however, because owner Dan Snyder isn't willing to part with his 2010 first-round pick. The Skins might have to give their entire 2009 draft to get from No. 13 to 2

USC LB Rey Maualuga appears to be one of the Redskins' top targets if they stay at the No. 13 overall spot.

The Skins' priority remains moving up for Mark Sanchez. If they can't pull it off, Brian Orakpo is the No. 1 target. Maualuga would be next. He would play the strong side initially, then eventually replace MLB London Fletcher.

Speaking on NFL Network, Steve Wyche reports the Redskins are still trying to trade up for Mark Sanchez.

The Redskins don't own a second-round pick, and owner Daniel Snyder says he won't deal next year's first rounder. They're going to have to get awfully creative to keep up with the Jets. The Redskins' best hope is for Sanchez to fall to No. 8.

Redskins selected Texas DE Brian Orakpo with the No. 13 pick in the NFL Draft.

Orakpo was the Redskins fallback option all along if they couldn't land Mark Sanchez, and Michael Oher's availability didn't change that. Orakpo was once seen as a Top-6 pick, but questions about his motor and future position in the NFL drew comparisons to Vernon Gholston. On the positive side, Orakpo was a dominant pass rusher at Texas, blew up the Combine, and fits well as a 4-3 playmaking end in the Redskins' scheme.

Redskins selected Maryland CB Kevin Barnes with the No. 80 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Barnes projects as a nickel corner who needs to beef up a little to play press coverage in the pros. He has good ball skills, which the Redskins value highly. He could eventually start if Carlos Rogers and Fred Smoot move on, but won't have a huge role as a rookie.

The Redskins have first-round pick Brian Orakpo penciled in at left defensive end.

He's expected to be in a rotation with veterans Phillip Daniels and Renaldo Winn. Orakpo may also be used in a hybrid role as a strong-side linebacker on running downs and switching to a pass-rushing defensive end in passing situations.

Redskins agreed to terms with Missouri QB Chase Daniel.

Daniel was tremendously accurate at Mizzou, but lacks the arm strength NFL teams covet. He's also too small at 6'0/218. We can't imagine him beating out Colt Brennan, but perhaps Daniel will land on the practice squad

Jason Campbell said Monday that he's ready for this weekend's minicamp and is not "interested in looking back at everything that's happened."

Campbell has handled the Jay Cutler and Mark Sanchez trade speculations like a pro, but there has to be an erosion of trust here. The 'Skins have refused to extend his contract while openly courting possible replacements. At this point, the odds are stacked against Campbell returning to D.C. after the 2009 season.

                            Jets waived RB Marcus Mason.

Mason always looks good against third-stringers in preseason, but lacks the speed and moves to be more than a fourth tailback option/special teamer

Redskins claimed RB Marcus Mason off waivers from the Jets.

Mason was with Washington in preseason last year and has an idea about coach Jim Zorn's offense, but fellow waiver grab Anthony Alridge has a better chance to fill the team's need for a "speed" complement to Clinton Portis.

Redskins fifth-round pick Cody Glenn admitted Tuesday that he lied to reporters when he said his senior-year suspension from the Nebraska football team stemmed from selling tickets to games.

Glenn wouldn't say what he really did, but at the time the school said he was banned for "violating team rules." Asked why he lied, Glenn said, "It was just so people would kind of leave me alone, just go get them an answer."
