Just a question..is there a certain number of SBs you have to win in order for those wins to be highly weighed in their resume, or does it not matter or should be more lightly weighted regardless?

What should I be looking at?
Is David Diehl a first ballot Hall of Famer as well? What about Aaron Ross?

Eli Manning is a pretty good quarterback. I guess my standards for entering the Hall of Fame are a lot higher than your average person, but I'm not quite sure yet that I was watching one of the greatest players at his position suit up for the Giants last night.

The two rings does not change that.

I wouldn't consider it a circus catch. Welker and the entire free world knows he should have had it.

Brady threw the ball to the correct spot given the coverage/situation.

There were two DB's under the play inside and outside. You don't miss that throw short. You put it high and outside away from the underneath DB's and the inside safety.

It wasn't the most accurate ball on the face of the earth but it was the right read and throw, wasn't poorly thrown and Welker had it in his hands. A poorly thrown ball there misses Welker completely. This one hit him in both hands.

If you don't have an issue with the read you can't make an issue of Welker twisting and turning..which he would have had to do regardless as a function of the read and the ball being thrown back outside.

Okay. And does one "elite" season make you a no-brainer induction to the Hall of Fame? Nobody is arguing that Eli sucks, or that he didn't have a terrific year.

Larry started getting crazy with the ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREATS hooey, which is what this discussion is about.

It's a bit of a leap to assume Eli will reach both sets of criteria in every season for the next five years, given that he's done both in the same year precisely once in his career (2010).

Three total 4000 yard passing seasons out of 9 tries, and one 30 TD season (29 this season). Yep, let's pencil in him to match his career highs every season for the next five, since that's totally how athletes progress. As soon as they reach their peak, they stay there for the foreseeable future.
Dude, he's going to catch Vinny Testaverde at this pace.

If that doesn't scream elite, i'm not sure what does.

It doesn't matter, he stated a fact - if Eli continues to hit his career averages he will be in the top 15 of all major passing categories by the age of 33. Who wrote the article is completely irrelevant.

2 SB wins, 7-3 playoff record with 2x more TDs than INTs, will be in the top ten statistically in most QB categories when career is over.

IMO he'll have gained the respect of his peers and the media in the next few years to warrant consideration.

Not ALL about the rings, but certainly a big part of it.

              I will admit to that.

I think his point is that this line of thinking is retarded.

Eli really starting to play better when they got rid of some of the pre-madonnas like, Shockey, Barber, and Burress. (yes they won with Burress but he was a pain in the ass and Eli was still struggling in the reg season)

Now he has a bunch of young receiver that Eli has now groomed and these guys respect him. Our best offensive players are still young along with JPP. Nicks, Cruz, Manningham, Eli, Bradshaw, ballard.......the future is looking nice for giants fans.

Like Larry said, it isnt the 'W2BTD HOF'

Larrys point is (I Think), after this game and projecting Eli's stats by the time he is done he will get into the HOF?

I don't think he is HOF right now if his career was over, but when his career is over I see him getting in

Back to the baseball board with your quasi-stat nerd fruit pop friends, sir...this discussion is for big boys and the sport of football.

Unfortunately, the line of thinking when entering a Hall of Fame is all about resumes...for QBs, if you have 2-Time Super Bowl winner and 2-Time Super Bowl MVP, your resume by passes the initial interview stage.

                                That's reality.
