Trainer Shawn Tompkins thoughts on beating Machida
"I've got two plans if any of my fighters ever fight Lyoto Machida," Tompkins told Cofield and Cokin on ESPN Radio1100 in Las Vegas. "First of all, I'm going to go to three of the best karate schools in the area, get their best guys, and work that timing. Because that's all it is: He has a different timing than everybody else. And secondly, you need to be a wrestler. You need to be chest-to-chest with that guy, and you need to be either pressing him against the cage or putting him on his back."Liquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

In reference to what Tompkins says and someone on the underground brought up, would be interesting to see Randy drop back down and take a shot at Machida
Randy is really tough when picking his fights when moving up and down in weight, would be an interesting matchLiquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

i wouldnt be so quick to call nog washed up yet. hes only one fight out of holding the (interim) belt. while it does look like age might be catching up with him we need to see how he does against randy. monson might be the hottest (no homo) HW right now with 6 wins in a row with top notch sub skills. AA might have a weak chin but is still a top 5 heavy, and i agree overeem is unproven but that dude is just a monster and a very bad matchup for lesnar.Comment

K1 level striking, ADCC level grappling and 1 of the best guillotine chokes in MMA
I would put money on Overeem if that fight every happenedLiquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

Its been mentioned a couple of times by other sources (including Dana White, I believe), but never confirmed by the fighter. But Nog seems like the type to refuse to make excuses. Did hear he was in hospital just a few weeks before the right, but who knows? The next fight should go a long way to showing where Nog really is at this point...Comment

I heard he was in the hospital but it was never confirmed. He hasn't looked great lately though. So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nog is on the decline, just based off the batterings he's taken through his career. But I won't assume it unless he fails to impress in his next fight.Comment

nog is on the decline, but he can still win big fights, he just is that type of guy, he has taken way to many beatings which is not common for top fighters, its usual big KO's or something like that, but Nogs chin has saved him so many times, but also probably hurt him in the long run because of sustained damage in fights
I remember him saying in 1 of the Fedor fights his left side of his body went numb after a big shot, the dude just has no quit in him
he could probably sub randy in there next fight and he could still catch the majority of fighters out there, he is just so slick for a HW
Nog is the 2nd greatest HW of all timeLiquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings
