Huerta exemplifies perfectly how MMA is just like Pro Wrestling, even though MMA dorks get their panties twisted when anyone says that.
Huerta was being pushed as a potential latino superstar, and fed guys who they knew he could beat, and racked up one of the longest winning streaks in UFC history. When the bad blood surfaced, Zuffa turned on him, booked him with a guy he would lose to, and proceeded to bury him in dark prelims.
You are what the promoters want you to be.Comment

On the UG someone brought up Joe as a 'company man' which isnt true, Joe does his own thing, but anyway
We asked him a couple questions, at first he said 'the UFC never tells me what to say about fighters' than someone said 'what about Randy?'
Joe than said the UFC told him not to mention Randy and I asked about 'fighting in Japan' and he said the UFC wouldnt let him mention Pride at the time, asked about Strikeoforce also and he didnt comment, maybe he missed the question, but more than likely he can not mention other promotionsLiquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

Marketing is marketing, they're still totally different. It's one thing to build a superstar by fabricating his image and character while scripting his wins, vs pitting someone against another fighter who he should in theory be capable of beating.Comment

Sounds more like boxing than WWE.So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.

Its more like WWE because they control who you fight, in boxing you usually fight who you want to fight, more like a contractor
You dont have no where near the control in WWE/UFC like you do boxing
You think Rich, Chuck, Brock, etc...have the ability to control who they fight like PBF, Oscar, Roy Jones, etc...? No way
Also, you guys are crazy if you dont think the UFC tries to build certain fighters by giving them certain matches
They brought in Tank for Mir and Ken for Rich just to build them up, happens all the timeLast edited by Liquidrob; 06-26-2009, 02:54 PM.Liquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

But they are willing to feed cans to fighters to build them up for the crowd if they think they're marketable. Its wrestling-esque. Boxing does similar shit, like I said.. but in boxing theres a lot of negotiating for your own fights. Promoters dont really feed cans to fighters.. they might feed cans to themselves.Comment

Also, thats why Dana got pissed at Cro Cop, he was trying to bring Cro Cop in to build up Cain, but Cro Cop said give me someone else first, he got Al Turk to beat and left
Dana wanted him to beat Al Turk and than try and have him fight Cain or Carwin, but Cro Cop used Dana like he was trying to use himLiquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

So what the UFC builds stars, why shouldn't they? Who doesn't try to build stars?Comment

Absolutely the big stars in the UFC have control over who they fight. We see it happen all the time. Rampage didn't want to fight Machida, he wanted Evans and that's who he got. Cro Cop was given many, many options of fights and he finally chose Al-Turk. Chuck has always been given options, a list of fighters to select from. Guys turn down fights all the time too.
So what the UFC builds stars, why shouldn't they? Who doesn't try to build stars?
No one is saying they shouldnt, but you guys are saying its not like the WWE and more like boxing and thats not correct
Boxers have way more control, just because some UFC guys can turn down some fights and get different ones doesnt mean they have all this control
Fedor = control, UFC guys = not so muchLiquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings
