I know very well who Aquilani is. He's a nice player when healthy but not really a game controller.
Xabi Alonso is a game controller? I thought he'd just take it off one of the full backs or centre halves and either
a - hit a 40/50 yard pass to the other side of the pitch
b - try to put the ball in behind one of the opposition's full backs
c - score an "amazing" goal because Steve Harper fell over like a retard
I'd rather have Aquilani, he's better than Alonso at everything except long passing.

He doesn't even have to be better than Alonso...just better than Lucas!
Also, I know the ESPN deal was for Europe, but the good news for us Yanks, ESPN is showing 1-2 games a week on the weekend here too. Last weekend it was Chleski, and tomorrow its Utd. The commercial also said they would show La Liga too. CR9 and Messi consistently now? I hope...
Having ESPN broadcast the games is a double-edged sword. The advantage is that they might actually show the games in HD. The disadvantages are their announcers are horrendous, and you run the risk of the game getting pre-empted by a Brett Favre breaking news segment.
Bologna vs Fiorentina from the Renata Dall'Ara (I think that's the stadium name) at 5 for me (12EST) and for anyone interested in seeing Gilardino carry on reviving his career alongside a cokehead Romanian
I'll be playing football before that as well, then afterwards there's AC at Siena to watch on ESPN.
So I was up all night watching The Wire anyway, so what the hell I'll stay up to watch United/Wigan even though I hate United. Soccer on ESPN2 every saturday = FTW.

Gotta love watching games @ Wigan , you know on probably the worst feild in the premiership infront of about 2 people and a dog . Wigan being in the premiership is depressing for me to see with Newcastle in the Championship
Shows how much a settled/unsettled backroom staff can do to a team
