Trips and Steph saying "we guarantee it" in regards to a unified champ several times is enough to tell you there will be no unified champ. Especially not at a TLC PPV, even tho it has been a big PPV for them over the last few years. This is a Mania type deal if anything.

Even the idea of a unification match shouldn't be bastardized either. It should be done only when you mean it. They've had too many shitty PPV finishes lately.

It's so painfully obvious that they're going to come down with the opposite titles it's not even funny.

So with Hunico taking over the Sin Cara gimmick, let's look at the Mistico/Hunico/Sin Cara lineage..

Hunico, aka Incognito, was the original Mistico. He was replaced by the second Mistico, who made the gimmick famous and was the top draw in the world and later became the original Sin Cara. When the original Sin Cara got injured, Hunico, the original Mistico, took over for the second Mistico as the second Sin Cara. Then the original Sin Cara, the second Mistico, came back and the second Sin Cara went back to being Hunico after losing a mask vs mask match against the original Sin Cara. Now the original Sin Cara is gone, and has been replaced by the second Sin Cara, Hunico. So the original Sin Cara once replaced the original Mistico, and now the second Sin Cara, the original Mistico, has replaced the original Sin Cara, who was the second Mistico. So they have each replaced each other once. There is also now a third Mistico in Mexico, the former Dragon Lee.

So...

Mistico became Incognito who became Hunico who became Sin Cara II who went back to being Hunico who is now Sin Cara again.

Mistico II (which was the most famous Mistico) became Sin Cara, was briefly replaced by Sin Cara II (see above), came back, and has now been replaced, again, by the guy above.

Dragon Lee became Mistico III.

TNA President Dixie Carter was ringside for the match, as was her nephew Ethan Carter III, and her assistant Rockstar Spud. They all got involved in some way during the match, basically costing Jeff Hardy the world title. To end the broadcast, Magnus celebrated with the Carter family and Rockstar Spud. This was his first World Championship win, and his first major singles title in professional wrestling. Magnus is a former two-time tag team champion, as well as a former IWGP tag team champion, and has been slowly turning heel since his controversial win at Bound for Glory this October.

Magnus was never IWGP tag champion. That's New Japan. He was GHC tag champion with Samoa Joe in NOAH.

Oh shit, yes he was.

He won the titles with Doug Williams on Impact from Team 3D, in that infamous title change that New Japan never approved. It was a stupid gimmick match and New Japan was pissed. Pretty much was the begging of the end of the working relationship.

There are so many times I can't believe TNA did this or that, or that this guy wrestled for them and won this belt... it's insanity. The whole run is a total blur.
