    It's not good...

The injury Edge suffered at last night's Smackdown house show in San Diego is a torn Achilles heel tendon. Depending on the severity of the injury, he could be out for the rest of the year.

Well, scratch "Rated Y2J" and look forward to Legacy getting their titles in short order.

If I were booking on the fly, I'd scramble together a Tri-Brand Tag Tournament (RAW, Smackdown, ECW) made of actual tag teams like The Colons, Cryme Tyme and William Regal/Vladmir Koslov with cobbled tag teams like Shelton Benjamin/Charlie Haas.

The last two teams would face off at Night of Champions (Legacy and let's say The Colons as we get the rematch from The Bash, minus Teddy Long's B.S.) with Legacy coming out on top after a decent match.

The key would be that WWE Superstars would be used as a stop-gap for whenever a RAW, Smackdown, or ECW team would face another brands (staying with the three match program) while each individual brand would hold their respective parts of the tourney.

TL;DR - "Uncle Vince is fucked. My booking would work this way. Dammit Edge!"

What they need to do those is keep Edge on TV.

I can't stand when a guy gets hurt and they throw them off TV. Keep their buzz alive, keep Edge on the mic, have him manage Y2J or something like that.

Does suck though but this is a golden opportunity for the WWE to actually highlight and develop their tag division.

PW Insider is reporting that Jerry Lawler is in critical condition in a San Diego hospital with head injuries after a car accident. Unconfirmed... hopefully not true...

A Clash of Champions type event to crown new champs would be awesome.

I thought the Raw and Smackdown guys were in Australia.

Yeah, I'm starting to think that thing about Lawler is just a nasty Internet rumor. PW Insider is usually pretty careful, but I'm hoping there is nothing to it.

Like biss said, he only needs to make on phone call, and he's working WWE tommorow. They clearly like him, because they allowed him to win clean over a contracted guy (Lance Cade) in his "tryout" (it was more of a showcase). They never do that. He has plenty of allies in the company...Regal, Jim Ross, and most inmportantly, HBK.

The other thing about Danielson, is he dosen't need the E. He's realistic enough to know he'd be a mid carder, and he's noted that he actually makes more money working indies than his friends who work the mid card in the WWE. Obviously he's the exception, because he gets booked by all the top indy groups and works Japan (NOAH) a few times per year.

He calls his own shots, makes enough money to live a decent life, and still finds time to train MMA and do all his humanitarian shit. Plus, he's still only in his 20's. He has plenty of time to do "corporate" prowres if he wants.
I didn't mean my post to sound disrespectful of Danielson.
You gotta have nothing but admiration for a guy who's carved out that kind of career without being in the major leagues.
And he gets to call his own shots. I imagine there are a number of WWE mid-carders who would kill to call their own shots, make a great living and keep their own names.

Apparently Edge's injury is a torn achilles. That's bad news.

Wish these dudes tendons didn't snap/bust every two years.

It makes me wonder about all the measures that the guys in the lockerroom take to make sure they have longer careers.

Shit, you can pretty much stamp a 10-year sentence on any guy's career if they fight in the middle-to-heavyweight ranks because they do mostly ground and pound moves; stuff that looks like it hurts but has low impact.

Some of the cruisers might change up their movesets a little or a lot (see: Rey Mysterio Jr.), bulk up a bit... but they may have less than 5 if all they do is spot-monkey stuff.

If anything else the human body, despite being trained to do the stuff these guys do in the ring to the point of it almost being mechanical (hence the "5 Moves of Doom"), just can't handle the strain of Pro Wrestling for very long.

Here's hoping the guy comes back in some capacity after some time off.

Also taking less steroids would help the tendons stay connected to the bone a bit more, but I definitely agree with you on the other stuff.

                            This.

Frequent muscle tears and torn tendons are generally a sign of steroid abuse. Especially as guys get into their mid to late 30's. Looking at you, John Cena, Boretista, Scott Steiner, Triple H....

Uh, except Raw wasn't live tonight. It was taped in San Jose on June 29th.
