Right so Lebron has an amazing 8 minute segment of the game and were just supposed to forget the rest of the game even happened. I admit he had a great run in the 4th but he still played like a scrub for 80% of the game. For someone who touts himself as the "King" that's unacceptable. People want him to be considered the best player in NBA history then they better be ready for the scrutiny. Shooting 25 percent FROM THE FIELD and ZERO PERCENT from 3 for 3/4 quarters is beyond terrible. Not to mention his 2 turnovers in the final minute and a half and his two awful bricks. He got a second chance at one and made it, awesome good for him, shoulda made it the first time though. I'm not gonna be impressed with him chuckin up threes and the occasional one went in.

If any other player in the NBA today, doesn't matter who, put up 32/10/11/3/1.....every single person in the media, the nba, this forum, etc. would be saying how it's an amazing performance without question. Lebron single handedly brought his team back into the game, and held Tony Parker to 6-23 from the floor. Even when struggling on the offensive side of the floor, he ELIMINATED Tony Parker from the Spurs offensive for most of the game.

Every sports analyst and news station out there were running lines all over social media talking about how awful Lebron was playing and how he was choking in a big game yet again. Then Lebron comes out and plays spectacular for 8 minutes. 8 fucking minutes out of 53. 15% of the entire game he plays like the Lebron we know. Then he disappears again and commits 2 crucial turnovers and chucks up 2 horrendous shots. So yea, I would've like to see him play that consistent throughout the entire game, better yet entire series. He plays like that through 30-50% of the game and he's got 50 points and I guarantee you the heat aren't losing by 15 in the 3rd banking on the off chance the spurs miss their free throws.

If spurs had converted one more free throw right now everyone would be sitting here saying the same thing, that he shouldve played like that theough the entire game instead of just the 4th. Yet because Lebron got bailed out by his teammates and some mistakes from the spurs, he miraculously had an axing performance. Sorry but I evaluate how a player plays throughout an entire game, not by one quarter.

It works both ways. Any other player has the kindve night Lebron had last night and its "he played like shit for most of the game but he had an amazing run at the end and turned it around." Lebron does it and everyone forgets when he played like shit completely and its "oh man Lebron played spectacular last night! Where do you rank that in the all time classics?" Which most of the articles I've read today are doing. Lebron had a good game, but he played like absolute dog shit for most of it and dug himself out of a hole. Kudos to him but this wasn't an all around spectacular performance by Lebron.

If the Heat lost last night everyone would be talking about how terrible those last 2 turnovers and final shots Lebron took were and how he disappeared again. But he won, and to the victor goes the spoils so everyone forgives and forgets.

It's clear you're not going to be swayed here so all I will say is that ANY player that goes 32/10/11/3/1 on 26 shots in an NBA finals games had a SPECTACULAR performance.

With James it has gotten to the point of unreasonable expectations. Given his production it is amazing that he still has people who expect more. It is too bad though. It has gotten to the point where even Jordan couldn't live up to the myth that has been created for him. It is amazing that James has even surpassed the expectations that he had coming into the league. He is among the 5-10 greatest players ever and his moving up the list......people should just enjoy it.

You mean when he's playing against the 2nd best team in the NBA after 100 games, his shooting percentages go down a little bit? Color me shocked.

He averaged something like 46-47% and 20% from 3 in last years finals also.

I don't see Jordan's game being scrutinized the way LeBron's is. People forget that Jordan lost in the playoffs for years before winning his first championship, and only remember him for when he started winning. If LeBron wins the next five championships, does the scrutiny finally stop? I doubt it.

I'm not trying to say LeBron is the best player in NBA history, but the reason he gets so much scrutiny is because of the media today, not because he touts himself as king (although I will admit the whole "not 3, not 4, not 5" thing escalates it). If the modern media was around when Jordan played he would have gotten just as much shit, saying he's not as good as Magic or Bird. The media never wants to claim someone current as the "best" because it's more fun to believe that there used to be someone better. Again, not saying I think LeBron is better than MJ. But it's stupid to compare the two in the media because every little thing LeBron does is under the microscope, and MJ's career just isn't viewed in that same way.

25-7-8 in the playoffs on 49% FG and 36% 3PT (and that includes his finals numbers, which are worse than those averages) so yes his play has dropped off in the finals. It's not really up for debate.

That being said he's doing enough to win so far, let's see what happens in game 7, I'm rooting for him to get that 2nd Finals MVP.

This is actually funny to me. Duncan dominated in the first half. Yet in the 2nd half, had 5 total points. Not one word is being said about his "disappearing" in the 2nd half. His game is actually being talked about in a positive way, and rightfully so, even though they lost and he had a bad 2nd half.

Yet Lebron leads his team back and they pull out a win and HE is being scrutinized because he didn't spread his greatness out equally enough?

Duncan isn't held to the standard of "Potentially the best player of all time". It's a little different being compared to the Robinsons, Ewings, Malones, Barkleys, Pettits, etc....than being compared to Jordan.

First of all, San Antonio (bottom 3rd of the league in FT Attempts) has outshot Miami from the line by over 30 attempts.

Secondly there's this:

The Spurs entered Tim Duncan back into the game while Allen’s shot was being reviewed. Teams are not allowed to substitute players during referee reviews, because reviews aren’t technically a dead ball situation.

Think about that. Tim Duncan could have capped a legendary career with a game-winning shot to win the 2013 NBA Finals, and it wouldn’t have even been legal. And there wouldn’t have been anything the referees – considering the NBA’s current in-game rules regarding mulligans – could have done about it.
