2013 NFC Divisional Game: #5 Seattle Seahawks at #1 Atlanta Falcons

Very good game, and impressive performance from Seattle. They showed me a lot despite the loss today with that major comeback. They're a very young team, and are poised to be a tough team to beat for the next 3-4 years at least. One of the teams that I can say are capable of being top-3 in the NFL in both offense and defense next year. Great win for the Falcons, and I'm excited to watch the Falcons-49ers game. Should be a great NFC and AFC Championship.

just before half;
Seattle should have come out with at least FG. i dont think anybody knew what they were doing lining up on 4th & goal, with clock running down.
it looked like Wilson was trying call spike on 4th and goal?? it just didnt look like they ready for any type of play......they looked confused.

just like that last drive with :26 seconds left;
on the 1st long pass; the DB was covering the long route down the sideline instead of the short route. then fell down realizing he was covering the wrong guy

If Pete Carroll doesn't try icing the kicker, which never ever ever works, Matty Ice has his name next to the biggest 4th quarter choke job in recent memory.

But yeah I guess he did an ok job throwing on a prevent D (another coaching tactic that is so stupid) with :31 left... even though he's a big reason the Seahawks were even allowed to get back into the game.

I have never understood the prevent defense thing especially when you have a respectable defense. Any decent QB can find plenty of room to move their team down the field against a prevent defense. Its such a conservative move and it seems to backfire pretty often.

Yep. All the momentum in the world.. the Falcons crowd in "oh fuck...not again" mode.. the Falcons team thinking "oh fuck.. not again..."

And what happens? Prevent D. Soft zone at midfield. FG attempt... which Bryant shanks if not for a timeout.

Wilson wasn't confused.. Wilson was gang banged on 3rd down and because we burned the final timeout earlier.. we couldn't get the FG off.

In the chatbox I said "kick the field goal now" on 3rd... that's exactly why.

The icing the kicker thing was stupid, but so was the squib kick after. that also never works. They gave them the ball back on like the 50 yard line or something like that. The seahawks were 65 yards out from a field goal - if the quickie out play they ran on the second to last play had gained a few more yards, Seattle could have won that game.

Falcons blew a 20 pt lead. Not a good game for them at all. Seattle took that game and then blew it with terrible playcalling on D. Then Atlanta almost blew it by their coach not letting the clock run down before he called a TO for the FG.

That brings me to a good point. How the fuck are you an NFL coach and you can't think to let an extra 8 seconds run off b4 you call a time out so that the FG kick is the last play of the game and you don't give the other team a chance?

Seattle didnt go all out prevent on that last drive, they tried zone blitzing but the fucking zone was getting worked all day. ATL had minimal success vs man covg yet they kept going back to zone. Gonzo had a few catches vs man but he had to work for them all. Dont see how these coordinators get paid so much money to strategize and fuck up when joe blow can see the most basic of things.

Yo Hass, Matt Bryant ALWAYS goes through his kicking motion anyways after the other team calls a timeout to ice him, I've seen him do this every year he's been in Atlanta, obviously to feel out the kick. Don't put too much stock into him missing it when he knew damn well the timeout was already called.

He missed a kick post-timeout at some other point earlier in the season, then proceeded to nail the "real" attempt. Bryant just be fucking with everybody, that's all.
