You're absolutely right. It seems like the team in general cannot find any consistency. One week the defense will show up but not the offense and then the next week the opposite. Our biggest problem on offense has been quarterback play, the running game so far has usually done its part. Trent Edwards is great one week and then can't hit wide open receivers to save his life the next.

It could be that way all year, but what I say is if you get shut down in the next few weeks then don't affect your draft position by winnning after that lol

Despite solid quarterback play out of Matt Schaub, Houston once again finds itself a bottom dweller in the AFC playoff race. HB Steve Slaton who had a phenomenal rookie season has hit the all too familiar "sophomore slump" as he is averaging just 2.5 yards per carry. Look for Houston to pass often against a Bills defense that has been very solid against the run. On the other side of the ball, the Bills come in with nothing but question marks. The quarterback play for the Bills has been shaky at best. Which Bills team will show up today? I think a good enough Bills team will be here to down Houston and end the two game losing streak. AP Buffalo – The Bills got back into the win column knocking off the Houston Texans in a shootout 41-30. The win moves the Bills record back to .500 on the season and keeps them in contention for the hotly contested AFC East title. Buffalo started the scoring off early with a touchdown pass from QB Trent Edwards to rookie TE Shawn Nelson. This marks Nelson’s first NFL touchdown despite being one of the favorite targets of Edwards this season. Edwards would go on to throw four touchdowns but still looked shaky tossing two interceptions as well. The scoring would continue to go back and forth through the first half as both quarterbacks continued to pick the defenses apart. Texans WR Andre Davis had a big game for Houston and added a score late in the first quarter. Not to be outdone Texans pro bowl WR Andre Johnson would also contribute a score in the first half.

Finally during the fourth quarter, the Buffalo Bills defense and special teams stepped up. Bills DT John McCargo was able to strip the ball free of Houston QB Matt Scaub on a sack. Bills DT Marcus Stroud picked up the loose ball and rumbled 35 yards for the score. The Bills would return another fumble for a touchdown after the Texans muffed a punt later in the quarter. The Buffalo Bills will head into their bye week 4-4, while the Texans will travel to take on the Indianapolis Colts (3-4).

Instead of our usual Game of the Week recap, we at Running With the Herd, your source for the latest Bills news, would like to take a moment to acknowledge the tragic injury that befell Saints RG Tim Duckworth this past weekend. After suffering what doctors believe is a fractured vertebrae, Tim will have to retire. It is sad to see this happen to any player but especially to a player as young as Tim who was just entering his third year in the league. To be honest probably not. We are just too inconsistent on both sides of the ball. Trent Edwards has yet to step to up and be the leader I was hoping he could be. He'll make great throws and then other times with no pressure on him he'll miss wide open receivers and get picked off by a linebacker. Marshawn came on hot but he still isn't where I would like him to be a lot of that can be blamed on the offensive line I think. We shouldn't even be in the playoff hunt but because of the Patriots stumbling the way they have, we are actually in the worst division in football (standings wise). We have a very tough stretch here at the end if we are going to sneak into the playoffs. We still have to play New England again, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Tennessee, and a couple of others. We will still keep fighting til the bitter end but barring a big turnaround realistically we have no business right now being in the playoffs.

The Titans are battling for their division with the Jacksonville Jaguars. After starting off slow this season the Titans have bounced back and look in good shape. QB Kerry Collins returns at the head of the offense but the true star is HB Chris Johnson who's blazing speed has given opposing defensive coordinators nightmares all season. The Buffalo Bills continue their tale of two cities. One week they're great the next week not so much. The Titans know that QB Trent Edwards can be rattled. Expect for them to get after him early and often. If the Titans can grab a lead, Johnson will do the rest. Titans win 27-13.

AP Nashville- The Buffalo Bills squeaked out a victory in overtime 25-22 over the heavily favored Tennessee Titans. The Titans struggled to find their run game against a stout Bills defense. Titans HB Chris Johnson was injured early in the game with what trainers were calling a mild strain in his back. He returned in the second quarter against the trainers’ advice. He was crushed by Bills DT Marcus Stroud a couple plays later and reinjured himself much more seriously. The word in Nashville is that it appears he has a herniated disk that will keep him out the rest of the season. Titans HB Lendale White shouldered the load after Johnson’s injury. He had a hard time finding any running room though.

The game quickly turned into a defensive battle as neither offense could find the endzone. In the third quarter Bills rookie TE Shawn Nelson atoned for an earlier drop as he hauled in a 67 yard touchdown to bring the Bills within six points of tying it up. The Bills looked to take the lead in the fourth quarter as the offense marched down the field. However, Bills QB Trent Edwards was picked off in the redzone by Titans LB David Thornton. The Bills defense again bailed out the struggling offense when on the ensuing possession Bills CB Terrence McGee tackled HB Lendale White in the endzone for a safety. The Bills scored on the following possession as the running game took over led by Bills HB Dominic Rhodes, who punched in a one yard score with just five minutes remaining to take a three point lead. Titans QB Kerry Collins marched his team right back down the field to set up a 28 yard field goal from PK Rob Bironas as time expired to send the game into overtime.

The Bills won the coin toss in overtime and took the opening possession deep enough for PK Rian Lindell to nail a 35 yard game winning field goal. The Bills will stay on the road as they travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars (6-3). The Titans will travel to Houston to battle with the struggling Texans (3-6).

Coming off a huge overtime win against the Titans last week, the Bills set their sight on the Jaguars. This game looks to be pretty evenly matched as the Jaguars bring one of the premier run games, led by Jones-Drew. The Bills have played great this season against the run led by all pro DT Marcus Stroud. This one will come down to the Bills offense. If Edwards and Lynch can put up some points the Bills have a chance. I'm going out on a limb this week. I'll take the Bills to pull the upset but just barely 28-27.

Definitely! It looks like your niners have been doing great since the titans game. I can only hope for the same for my Bills. AP Jacksonville – The Buffalo Bills continued on their winning streak this time barely edging out the Jacksonville Jaguars 19-17. The storyline of the game was undoubtedly the superb play of the Buffalo defense who recorded four sacks and three interceptions. The game quickly turned into a defensive struggle as both offenses struggled early. Bills QB Trent Edwards had another mediocre outing, fueling rumors that this may be his last season as the starting quarterback. As has been typical all season, the Bills offense was carried by HB Marshawn Lynch. Lynch racked up 160 yards on only 19 carries including a 2 yard touchdown run.

On the other side of the ball, the stout Buffalo Bills defense was led by DT Marcus Stroud, who had another dominant game recording two sacks and three tackles for a loss. The heavy pressure applied by the Bills front four kept the Jaguars from establishing any rhythm on offense. Bills rookie DE Aaron Maybin recorded another sack this week raising questions on whether he should be starting over incumbent DE Aaron Schobel who has struggled this season and has yet to record a sack. Jaguars HB Maurice Jones-Drew could not find any room and was held to just 37 yards on 11 attempts. Jaguars QB David Garrard had an absolutely terrible outing as the Bills pass defense stepped up. Bills CB Terrence McGee took away an early scoring opportunity when he picked off Garrard in the endzone during the first quarter. Bills OLB Keith Ellison and rookie FS Jairus Byrd also recorded interceptions in the upset. The Bills will travel back home to take on the lowly Miami Dolphins (1-9) for the second time this season. Jacksonville will travel to the west coast to take on the 49ers (4-6).

In Foxboro, the New England Patriots barely beat the division rival New York Jets 27-25. Patriots QB Tom Brady threw for over 300 yards and three scores winning the offensive player of the week award. For the Jets HB Thomas Jones rushed for 98 yards and a score.

Wow how bad are those Dolphins, what the hell has gone wrong there?

Nice to see another win for the Bills, your defense was on fire recording 4 sacks and 3 interceptions.

Yeah no joke, the dolphins have looked terrible. It was a close game the first time I played them even though I won. Chad Pennington went down the game after that and they have been losing ever since. They also are without Ted Ginn who was lost for the season during the preseason.

We seem to be on a little bit of a roll here lately. The offense is still struggling and Edwards hasn't really played that well. Luckily Lynch has been doing pretty solid and the defense has been just incredible. Marcus Stroud has been lights out and has something like seven sacks on the season.
