P.S. In case you didn't know, the magazine is referring to an apparent Hurricane that hit New Orleans sometime long ago. I don't remember ever hearing about it though, must have been a relatively minuscule story for the media.

I really can't blame W2B and Nuk's hate for Brees.

After all, they witnessed the transformation of...

to...

They were captivated by Kurt Warner's rags to riches story during the prime of their football fan careers.

It's really no wonder they scoff at any man the media tries to portray as a football hero or savior.

And while I am dramatizing this a little bit, there is absolutely some truth to it. The fact is that there will never be a better football story than Kurt Warner's.

I don't think they hate Brees or the nice story that came along with it - just the fact that to this day.. they still bring up Katrina and ram it down our throats.

Was it a horrible event? Absolutely. But eventually.. communities move on, and obviously so do the professional teams that reside there.

I think it's mainly because as a whole, professional athletes were horrible human beings in 2010. So many negative stories and scandals, that they have no choice but to play up this one semi-related human interest angle into the QB of the Super Bowl winning team.

Can you think of any other deserving person in 2010? John Wooden, just because he died, would have been cool ... But you can understand SI taking the safe route.

If Brees went to Miami and ended up winning a Super Bowl with the Dolphins, you think anyone mentions the dozens of hurricanes that hammer south Florida every decade? My guess is they don't.

Don't get me wrong, I lived through Katrina (insert looting jokes here), it's no laughing matter, I hate when people make light of it, but I also hate how people give the Saints credit for doing anything to "REBUILD" New Orleans. They did not rebuild shit, it was police men and lawmakers and carpenters and public servants and tax payers who did that.

But with all the city has been through, wouldn't a repeat Super Bowl win help ease the suffering of the city still being torn up after 5 years? How insensitive of you to not want New Orleans to win at sports because the city was underwater. Shame.
