Yes.
People have gone completely overboard with it to the point that I don't think it's purely about football anymore. Like I didn't see this type of hype when Vince Young came in for a 0-6 team that had just loss 0-59, then immediately the team goes 7-1. That run had OT games and 6 4th quarter comebacks / game winning drives. Including a 99 yard game winning drive verses the Cardinals. Both times you saw the D instantly turn things around and start shutting down other teams. Both times you saw a top 5 rushing attack.
I did not see Vince Mania though.
I also think that players like Von Miller and Willis McGahee aren't getting enough credit.
I rarely watch anything but NFLN and havent watched much else for years. But Vince mania was alive and well.
The fact hes white and loves Jesus and so many said he wouldnt make it on this level at all gives him an extra 2 ounces of hype...but VY was most certainly hyped.
Also Von Miller and WM get plenty of cred. Irvin in particular said that McGahee is as much the driving force as Tebow is.
