Tower defense is bad. Doesn't appeal to me at all, and it needs a complete overhaul. I do like the improved Assassin Missions for Mediterrean Defense.

I can tell that I am also going to be frustrated by more tower defense, and I will be doing a lot of herald bribing to keep my Templar awareness down, because I don't want to be bothered with it. I also am not a fan of the increased Full Synch options of "Do Not Be Detected." I knew it was going to happen with the focus on all the types of bombs, but over half of the missions so far have had that kind of objective attached to it.

Played for about an hour or so last night so I got myself into the story line and such. Looks to be pretty good. I'll probably be putting in a marathon session over the weekend since my week nights are pretty tied up right now.

I don't give a shit. I love doing all the side missions in the AC games. I did them ALL in the first game and that was monotonous as shit. But I despise tower defense. I still can't believe I finished Brutal Legend. I really liked the game but the tower defense all but killed it for me. Absolutely terrible.

Remember in GTA and Saints Row, where your territories would come under attack by a rival gang and you needed to repulse them? It is the same thing here.

However, you command troops as Ezio. You have to unlock roofs with Assassin Leaders, and then you can put troops on the buildings. You can set up roadblocks and upgrade them, you can launch a cannon. I've only played one so I don't know if there is more.

It sounds cool, but in practice, it is very tedious. Honestly, there is just so much stuff going on in this world that I wish they had left this out- you don't need to worry about your territories, as well as everything else. Right now, I am spending my time to keep my notoriety down just to avoid it.

Same here. In this game, the town's guards are apathetic towards you. Unless you do something to them, they won't attack you. They will also help you if Templars are fighting you in the streets. Your notoriety is now keyed just to Templars, and if it fills up, you are at risk of an attack. So I've been avoiding it, and its a pain at times, but I don't want to go halfway across the map for one of those sequences.

The Tower Defense mini game seems avoidable, so far. It explained that the 'dens' you took from the Templars would increase your presence(in a negative way) as long as you were up to bad business, which is basically just playing the game. So I'm running around bribing every herald I see. Wish they would have left Wanted posters in the game. I'm spending a fortune in bribes.

Like what, exactly? Maybe I am too used to it to have it bother me.

The Tower defense stuff is rather annoying, especially since it's so easy to get the towers back. It's odd - I stopped the Greek Fire thing once, and yet... I still lost the tower?

To avoid tower defense - if you're notorious, don't do anything stupid, and have your assassins kill the officials, or just find 4 heralds to bribe (and just steal your money back from the last). I was in a cycle where I *kept* having dens attacked, and finally got out of it.

I like the fact that there's a point to having the assassins instead of just attacking when you need it. I have one master assassin who's holding the Galata tower.

I'm through the first Altair mission, and have enough of the animus collection things to go into the first locked memory. I'm going to do that once I'm back in the animus space.

I've run into three of the multiplayer characters so far - the Sentinal, the Vizier and the Crusader. I've played very little MP, but I don't expect to until the SP is done.

I listened to the latest Bombcast, and I'm so glad I'm not alone on my feelings. Especially from an opinion I respect so much(Ryan Davis). This is the worst Assassin's Creed since... well, Assassin's Creed. The stuff that is good, is still good. But the stuff that is new, sucks. The tower defense and notoriety stuff is way too much of a constant. And the Desmond missions really make me turn my head in confusion.

I'm just going to power through the main quest line for Ezio. And then be done with this game.

Yeah, the new stuff is bad.......it just seems out of place. The Desmond puzzles remind me of video games from 10 years ago, where they don't tell you what to do, what to avoid, etc, and you learn it from trial and error.
