Although, we all could be stuck with either COD or having to build a PC to run ARMA 2 (ARMA 3's in production and sure looks purdy...) or Operation Flashpoint.

I cant finish this lousy campaign.

Maybe I would attempt it but this stupid decision to make my screen perpetually filthy and full of lens glare made me give up.

MP may be an entirely different beast I admit...but SP this game stinks. Havent played COD MW 3 but even old and tired black ops was entertaining. BF3 is a snoozer.

Patch is live. I'm salty.

I've heard that Tanks fights are significantly shorter. To the point that some have said RIP tanks.

Played a couple of rounds this morning.

-You're probably going to have to fix your loadouts. Mine were messed up, and the MP443 is now locked for some reason. Luckily, the problem where my adjustments made in the My Soldier menu not carrying over to the game has been fixed.
-You may have to adjust your sensitivity. Mine seemed to be a lot higher from where I remember it, and I still haven't found that sweet spot even after a few adjustments.
-The repair torch seems way too slow at repairing now. I was only able to bring back about half of a tank's armor before I had to let my torch cool down. I can see why people would say tank battles are shorter because of this.
-On an added note about tanks, they seem a little less responsive than before, and they seem to be more prone to sliding around on non-paved surfaces.
-Backing out of a server during intermission is nice.
-Can't say anything about USAS frags yet since hardly anyone had the semi-auto shotguns out in the few matches I played. Same goes for the tactical light's effectiveness outside.
-This was implemented before the patch from what I understand, but there are now mixed game mode DICE/EA servers. However, there is not a filter in the server browser to see which ones do this (this happened on a BF3 Classics server FWIW). There is also a filter for Conquest Assault if you don't want to play conquest on the B2K maps.

Battlefield 3 DLC Lets You Pay to Cheat (Basically)

EA is no stranger to allowing users to pay for upgrades most people earn the hard way. It's been doing it since the dawn of the DLC era. But a new set of unlocks for Battlefield 3 is beginning to take the piss.

Called "The Ultimate Shortcut Bundle", it costs 3200 Microsoft Points, and basically unlocks almost everything in the game that you'd otherwise have to play for hours and hours to get your hands on. Put another way, it lets the rich/stupid pay to get on the same footing as those who bought the game at launch have had to put in a lot of hard work for. This goes for vehicles, weapons and gadgets.

In addition to the big bundle unlocking across the board, individual unlockss and unlock packages are also available for slightly less.

Hilariously, it doesn't unlock everything, leaving some users - who paid more for the DLC than many outlets are selling the actual game for - upset. Try not to feel too sorry for them.

The packs were very quietly released for the PS3 version last week.

They (EA) did the same thing with Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor. I'm not sure why some people are surprised or even upset by it. IMO a lot of the better guns are either the class default or unlocked early on anyway.

Played some with the new patch today. Really liked what it offered, plus no Frag Rounds was HEAVEN.

Love the simplified squad menu and the lack of waiting for a match to begin. I didn't feel like tanks were necessarily THAT much easier to destroy without coordination between engineers.

Also, I LOVE the new option to rent a server. Will come in extremely handy for a certain community game night coming up soon...

One of the best things about the rented servers is that people are opening "flight school" servers where you can go to learn to fly jets and helis without much worry of being shot down while an admin is present.

I played last night on hardcore with 200% tickets and holy hell. I played 2 maps and an hour and a half later I was finished lol. Racked up alot of XP tho
