2009 stats: 3 homers, 10 RBIs (6 today) and a grandslam. He just missed his 4th homer by a foot or so. Hes hitting about .700 (11/18) Hes killing the ball, and stil my early season favorite for MVP.

If the Tigers are sucking at the end of July, given their economic standing, they could have a major firesale. There is obviously also alot of hope on my part (sox fan), hence this originally being thought up by Bill Simmons (if anyone here reads him)

I kind of find it funny that I am even talking about trades early in the season but I do not think it would happen. Detroit would want a shit load in return and the sox wouldnt want to give up two or three pitching prospects.

There are plenty of teams out there with nice prospects that they'd give up for Cabrera, so if the Tigers put his name out there, somebody will bite. I love how all the Tiger fans know what the front office is going to do and how they won't trade him lol.

Exactly. As long as the Tigers are blown away by a deal, even if they weren't 100% into trading him, he could be gone.

If you trade your whole farm system for a player, then sign him to a 8 year contract, the chance he is traded is slim to none, especially in his 2nd year. It doesnt take a genious to know what the front office would do in this situation.

So when another team trades their whole farm system for him, it won't happen? Mhm. Sure.

If the Tigers bomb this year, it's not slim to none that he will be traded. It's not a guarantee, but there's a hell of a possibility.

I don't think Cabrera would be traded, at least not this season. Maybe next year, if we are doing bad I could see him being dealt but not this season. The Tigers realize that Cabrera sells tickets.

yeah, Theres always a possibility that someone could get traded. I also dont think that many teams would want to take on that 8 year/100millin dollar contract either, or be as willing to.

the whole point of a firesale is that they try to get rid of their most expensive players, because they can't afford them. They can't afford the $19 million a year, (like I said before) given their economic standing. Why do you think he got traded in the first place? because the marlins are a small market that wouldn't be able to afford signing him

I feel like the Tigers would love to trade that contract for a few solid prospects and some money

I don't think hes saying those will be his feelings, hes just saying thats another possibility.
