The last one was just a screw it type pass but the other 3 weren't good.

This is the first game where I truly believe he played bad, and his bad still wasn't terrible. I know he's not Peyton Manning, as much as I do my best BigBucs impression I can't be that much of a homer. The last pick.... doesn't matter... the first was terrible, the one to Levy was a great play by levy but still a bad decision. DEFENSE still lost this game. Cam playing his worst game of the season and they still put up 35.... 35 points wins an NFL game even if you have an average defense.

Next season it may be better.... Cam is still a rookie... the defense letting up like that will make any QB press to make plays and in turn creating turnovers, the best QBs in the league do it and the worst do it. He showed incredible elusiveness in the pocket tho that is something for me to be happy about, he was stopped dead to rights at least 4 times this game and none of those 4 were sacks.

Steve Smith dropped a huge play, but in the end it prob wouldn't of made too much a difference. up two possessions at half and not being able to convert it to 3 possessions gave the Lions life and confidence, and clearly the Panthers defense can't handle it without Beason and Thomas Davis. Keiser looked like a fucking animal today tho... if he keeps that up then Charles Johnson/ Greg Hardy/Applewhite/Keiser could be an excellent rotation going forward.

Always next year, still looking forward to what Cam does this season in a learning year, nobody expects a rookie to make a winning season, I didn't, I expected 6 wins and we will be lucky to get that but have been close in every game outside of the titans. We had plenty of chances to win and penalties on defense are a tremendous factor, more so then Cam Newton's play because overall he has been way beyond expectations.

The Panthers should really look into finding someone who is over 6'0" that consistently catch the ball in the first round. I feel like this has been a need for them for the last 10 years or so and they've tried to fill the void with second and third round guys who never panned out.

I don't see a WR as the top need for us. The way Steve Smith has played, I think he can continue on for a couple more years. David Gettis(Injured since before the preseason) and Brandon Lafell are the future, perhaps Pilares as well. I would much rather see us pick up Matt Khalil, to either play to the right of his brother Ryan, or at tackle if Otah can't get healthy. Assuming he drops to us, but I think we'll have a top 5 pick.

Cam Newton didn't play THAT bad. He overthrew a couple open guys, and all of those Interceptions were his fault. Dumb mistakes. He has not learned to handle pressure when there is no room to extend a play. When Suh came right up the middle, he throw it blindly into the Middle, where the LB picked it off. Sounding like I am beating the dead horse here, but the defense lost the game. The first half they played great, the second half they did not. Hard to win when the defense gives up 49 points.

E: Cam played much worse against Tennessee.

I think they need defense defense defense, and then more defense.

Offense is fine right now. I think they can find a special WR in FA if they need to, maybe a TE, but right now that offense will be fine while he learns. I wouldn't waste any draft picks on WR's until he can prove to be a year in year out consistency. Then you draft that guy or bring him in through FA. High draft WR's don't have the best rack record.

Good game by Cam, glad to see him get back on track. Like I've said numerous times in this thread, I'm rooting for the guy cause I really enjoy watching him play, but there's a lot of homeristic statements in here that make me shake my head.

To 16-year-old Katie Brown, Cam Newton really is Superman.

So when her hero ran across the end zone after his NFL record-setting 13th rushing touchdown Sunday at Tampa Bay and handed her the game ball, she was speechless and trembling with excitement.

“It was the most amazing moment,” Brown said in a phone interview on Monday. For the game, she was dressed in a homemade black T-shirt she’d had made the night before that said “Katie and Cam” on the front and “Mrs. Newton” on the back along with Newton’s No. 1.

“I thought he was going to do his Superman celebration like he normally does, but then all of sudden he started running over and pointed right at me,” said the teenager from New Port Richey, Fla. “I was in shock. I thought, I must be in a dream.”

A few minutes later, however, she was asked to give the football up.

That ball, it turns out, is destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Newton’s third touchdown of the game gave him 13 for the season, the most ever by an NFL quarterback, breaking Steve Grogan’s 35-year-old record.

Panthers assistant equipment manager Don Toner, knowing beforehand the importance of Newton’s milestone, had the awkward job of asking Brown for the ball.

“The funny thing is when Cam scored and started running over there we’re all yelling, ‘Oh no, don’t,’” Toner said with a laugh. “It was like watching it happen in slow motion. It was painful.”

Painful because he knew he’d have to be the one to retrieve it.

At first Toner started toward the corner of the end zone, but then realized he still had the kicker’s tee for the upcoming kickoff in his pocket. After he gave that up he grabbed one of the game balls from the ball boys and later snagged four hats out an equipment trunk on the sidelines.

Toner said Brown was understanding.

“I just asked her real nice, ‘Would you mind exchanging that ball — we kind of need it,’” Toner said. “And she was real sweet about it. She didn’t hesitate. She was so excited she was trembling. She was just giddy about what had just happened.”

“It was some quick thinking on Donnie’s part,” Panthers equipment manager Jackie Miles said.

Brown said she didn’t mind trading the ball.

“I was like, ‘OK, no problem,’ ” Brown said. “I honestly believe Cam deserves to have that ball because it was his record and his achievement. He should have it.”

Miles said the team also plans to send Brown something in the mail.

All in all, it was an incredible day for Brown, who didn’t even know she was going to the game until a few hours before kickoff.

She doesn’t live far from Raymond James Stadium and had asked her father, D.J. Brown, if going to see Newton play could be her Christmas present.

He told his daughter they couldn’t afford the tickets, but secretly purchased four: for himself, Katie, her 11-year-old brother, Noah, and their mother, Renee. On Sunday, Katie’s father didn’t tell her where they were going until they were on the way to the game.

“She was just so thrilled,” D.J. Brown said. “I think she had an inkling, though, because she had the T-shirt made up the night before the game.”

Brown can thank the fans around her for getting an opportunity to meet Newton.

After a Carolina touchdown in the second quarter, several fans began shouting Newton’s name while he stood with DeAngelo Williams around the water cooler on the sidelines. Newton noticed the ruckus and finally turned to their section. When he did, Katie turned around and showed him the back of her shirt.

“I pointed at my T-shirt and he just started smiling and shaking his head laughing,” she said.

D.J. Brown said her daughter became a Newton fan while he was playing at Auburn. They were watching a game together when Katie asked him, “Who’s that guy?”

He told her.

“I told my father right there I’m going to be a fan of whatever team drafts him,” Brown said. “So I’m a Panthers fan.”

Brown said returning to school Monday at River Ridge High was a blast as several of her classmates had seen what happened on television.

“It was an amazing day,” Brown said. “I was a really great early Christmas present.”

Only one thing could top it, she said.

“I’m wondering if Cam can take me to my prom?” she said.

There are 6 kids in the stands with a game ball. Cam Newton, Jonathan Stewart, and I think Deangelo Williams all handed out one.. That's nice.

Totally in love with this kid. Can't wait to see how he develops once he actually gets it.

Panthers are probably my second favorite team in the league now.
