I hear you on that. It was great going up to college where I had NFL Network in the dorms. Now that I'm offcampus, I have use Time Warner, so I have access to WatchESPN. Combine that with having Cablevision at home and using HBOGO....

what are you gonna do for NFL or NCAA football. Thats the only thing i need cable for is to watch games in HD.

I pay $120 a month for just the cable service and i never watch tv. the kids watch it for their shows, but they have their own PC and watch alot of stuff on you tube or disney.com
 
Lots of good feedback in this thread. You can also get a ROKU box or Apple TV for access to a lot more streaming channels than you can get over the PS3. Be careful that your Internet provider doesn't have usage caps though because a months worth of HD streaming will add up pretty quickly.

I had Sunday Ticket on the PS3 last year and after the first couple of weeks where it was unwatchable, they finally put enough bandwidth on the DirecTV servers to handle it and it looked just fine. I'll be signing up again this year as soon as they make it available.
 
I had the Roku box for a few weeks and honestly we used the xbox predominantly. Amazon, Netflix, ESPN is mostly what we are accessing for now. I returned it.....apple tv didnt seem to provide anything much different. You have to pay for almost everything from itunes.

Even though ESPN kind of sucks on the xbox bc my cable provider doesnt let me stream it I can view clips of Sportscenter and highlights.
 
I am in the process of getting rid of cable.I dont watch TV. I play Xbox, and watch movies. And watch live sports. But with streaming sports becoming easier by the day. I have no need. The Bears are on regionally for me half the time. Manchester and the Blackhawks would be the only two I have to stream. But, im fine with that.

Cancel cable for 200 bucks a month and keep internet. Xbox for me has ESPN, Netflix, Hulu, and other crap. Im better off that way. Ive wanted to get rid of cable for months now, but my wife watches all kinds of crap. But when I showed her that her crap was also on the Xbox or the internet in general. She has started to warm, and its lookin like its going to get done.
 
I have also been thinking about canceling my DirecTV but I dont really trust my ps3 for streaming the NFL Sunday Ticket games.
 
I'm moving and did not want to get cable. Since DirecTV is a no-no for a few reasons (2 year contract being the main reason) I had to make the decision between ATT Uverse and Comcast. I really only wanted to get top of the line internet and just stream everything....

But there's a massive installation charge ($250) from ATT. With the 6 month promotion we can get really good cable (Showtime + Fox Soccer channel.... which plays Rugby).

After the 6 months I'll probably cancel the cable (since it coincides with the end of the football season anyway).

Yeah. This is only reason to not cancel DTV. I steam mlb.tv and nba games. But too much football on Saturday and Sunday. I need DTV.
 
I've thought about cancelling my cable (I have Comcast) and just buying the NHL/NFL/MLS passes and getting Hulu Plus because I'm pretty sure that would save me some money.
 
i like the idea of using hulu plus and netflix.

you get used to web stream quality for sports when you don't have to pay for it. any TV content in HD is a breeze to get. no fucks or dollars given.
 
Ok playon is pretty cool on Ps3. It organizer all tv feeds on internet and pulls it media server wise onto your ps3/tv. Definetly getting this just for convience alone.

If anyone would trust me with there hbo go login Id love you forever. :whoner:
 
hbogo is pretty awesome. i wish u could just get that for a fee instead of having to get cable to use it. but anything i want to see on hbo i just dl the torrent
 
the only thing that is going to hurt me by not having cable. i live in miss, i wont be able to see the skins without directv. no cable right now. i can just go to g/f sister house to watch or download shows from the net. i watch like 6 shows, suits, franklin and bash, the walking dead and breaking bad, CSI, hells kitchen. 2 are on regular tv. whiff eff cable.
