i finally sunk some time into buying a few augs. i had 4 points saved to spend. got 2 hacking augs and the social enhancer aug.

social enhancer is really cool. it has 3 mini games that occur while you are talking to someone. from what i saw it looks like 1 of the 3 will appear during the dialog. Its a nice little thing to have during a discussion to influence the out come.

another nice thing is the auto save feature. I have never seen another game take something so simple and make it better. It uses 2 auto saves so u always have your recent and previous auto save. So if u fuck up and the most recent is after the fuck up, u can go back to the previous

I think I'm probably going to end up getting this game sometime this week. All of the talk about it has me really wanting to try it out.

So my buddy says that he is near the end of the game and it's most definitely slanted to benefit stealth and hacking. He said, and I quote "You really can't play like you want. I was going to go aggressive during my second play through but it looks like that would be impossible."

Pretty fucking stupid if you can't really play the way you want and there is really only one ending, no matter what decisions you make.

Did he elaborate on why that's the case?

Maybe something happens later in the game, but I just beat the second boss yesterday (easier than the first IMO). Every situation looks like it can be completed by going in guns-a-blazing or by stealth.

EDIT: I will say that investing in your primary and stealth hacking trees makes the game much easier.

Saving Malik was a bitch-and-a-half. Up to this point I've been glad to let things ride in the game, and I haven't felt the urge to replay areas for a certain outcome. However, I felt compelled to keep her alive. I'm hoping there's a nice reward waiting for me down the road.

Just beat the game. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Similar to the first DX, there are plenty of paths to complete each mission. The augmentations available to you also make the game very user friendly IMO.

On the downside, the bosses can be dispatched surprisingly easy if you have the right inventory. Also, I did experience some weird glitches like people phasing through floors after I performed a takedown on them. I also noticed that some people ended up dead even though I used non-lethal force to bring them down. Overall, nothing gamebreaking.

If you're questioning whether you'll have the Praxis Points to upgrade your augs, don't fret. You can easily earn XP by side missions and exploration. While I wasn't able to max out everything, I had more than enough to customize my abilities the way I wanted.

I'm going to have to disagree with your friend. There are certainly points where it's much easier to to take a vent to avoid patrols and what-not, but (even at the end) you can go on a rampage and just mow everyone down if you like.

I didn't catch the last part of your post the first time I read it, but as far as the ending goes, you have to remember that this is a prequel. Events after the final boss encounter have already been determined to a degree in the Deus Ex universe. Each path has its own subtle change in the ending though.

I am loving this game so far. Really does a good job at capturing yet modernizing what I love about the original. There are some minor irritations that I have but most of them are just silly aesthetic things (people look fake, you can stealth break a dude's arm to knock him out, he can be woken up and is fine, the battery system for takedowns is kind of gay, and Jenson sounds like someone grabbed his balls and won't let go). Like I said though, all very minor issues. The world is great, the story is intriguing and the stealth is fun as shit. I don't even mind hacking even though it's fucking stressful sometimes.

i need the punch thru wall aug. i cant buy anymore augs from the limb clinic and dont have anymore other quests to do.

i am trying to get into derelict row without being noticed.

 

Im trying to smash thru the wall but cant do it without being spotted. there is a guy right there and i keep shooting him. i was hoping to punch thru the wall to take him out un noiticed.

anyone have any suggestions on how to get thru this wall without being spotted?

I doubt you'll be able to get through the wall without being noticed unless you also have the one aug that lets you see the patrols through the wall. Your best bet might be to take out the guards on the ground, and enter the door on the ground level.

As an alternate route...

 

There is also a back entrance if you manage to do some nifty box stacking to get over a fence near the area around Derelict Row. I think you may also have to do some hacking if you go this route (I can't exactly remember).
