I'm not tarnishing a damn thing, bat mite. Certainly not like the OP - because as we all know, being a young and stupid (see: black and grew up in poverty so they have no idea how to manage money) professional athlete with financial troubles is not a widespread thing at all, and it's so rare indeed that when one player has them, he's "imploding".

I didn't call Darrent Williams a bad guy. I just said that glen isn't allowed to pile on unless Bryant commits a crime, or at the very least is assaulted (see: shot)because he decided to hang out at a nightclub with a bunch of thugs.

No I didn't. I simply said you can't say shit about Dez Bryant until he pulls something comparable to what one of your boys went through...even if it wasn't his fault, like what happened with Williams.

I understand you want to try and justify the fact that your team passed up on him for an inferior player last April. I've been there, trying to justify the Cowboys passing up Randy Moss for Greg Ellis and then watching the former spend the better part of 10 years shitting on the National Football League and the Dallas Cowboys in particular while the latter didn't get a 10 sack season until 2007.

But I didn't pile on Randy Moss for weak shit like owing money or accepting what he thought was "free shit" in college. That happens far too often in the NCAA and NFL for it to be considered "imploding". Ask Mark Brunell or Dwight Freeney for starters.

Let Dez Bryant go. It's really quite sad.

What I am concerned about is that he doesn't seem too bright.

I actually talked to a few people last year who both directly (assistant coaches, scouts) and indirectly (friends of teachers, etc) knew him and the consensus on them was pretty much that he's a good-hearted kid who has bad influences around him. The word "diva" gets tossed around so easily when it comes to WRs, but he doesn't seem to fit that bill when you really examine it. The people I speak to out of Dallas say similar things.

I certainly don't think the kid is perfect. He has a lot of growing to do and he had better do it quick. He appears to need to have his hand held going through every day sort of situations, for example managing his money as you've seen.

But all this labeling that goes on with him is downright ridiculous. The Moss comparisons don't apply because he's never had his effort questioned nor has he ever had drug problems or been kicked out of a college (suspension notwithstanding, he would have been welcomed back to OSU had he not come out last year). The TO comparisons don't fit because unlike TO, he has actually admitted to mistakes he has made and has never been accused of throwing teammates under a bus or splitting locker rooms. Look at this Baldwin kid from Pitt coming out this year for an example of it actually happening at the college level.

I mean, can the guy at least do something that warrants that type of criticism before he actually gets labeled? I realize at this point it's too late, people are gonna think what they want about him, but a lot of it is off-base.

Immaturity is my biggest concern with him. Other than that...meh, not really. I've seen far worse come through here in my time and be successful.
